Human civilization arose under a stable atmosphere of 260-280 ppmv of carbon dioxide. Then, humans learned to utilize the power of fossil fuels. In a geologic blink, fossil fuel burning has increased atmospheric carbon dioxide levels by more than 50%.

It's been the coldest winter in more than two decades for swaths of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. In New York, you'd have to go back to the mid-1990s to find a colder one. Some younger people would be experiencing the coldest winter of their lives so far.

@wx4cstr I agree. However, closer inspection showed problems with the projection. An example of the European model not as good as the American model .

While this may be true, it doesn’t make it responsible, especially if you value accuracy and credibility. Just my opinion.

@ChrisGloninger Also, he would not recognize the planet during past hothouse periods. The actual graphic was published in the 20 Sept 2024 Science. The research article has a number of fascinating revelations that need more research. He simply takes this out of context.

@NWSGSP FYI, the storm total estimate for my location in Polk Co., NC was 1.03” as of 8:54 a.m. The rain gauge on my weather station (tipping bucket) has recorded 2.00” since the rain began ending at the same time. #ncwx

This is a 3-second exposure taken at 9:50 pm EST near Lake Adger, NC in Polk County. I could not see it with the naked eye, but could with my camera on time exposure. Wildcat Spur is in the center of the photo.
