Returned to my old elementary school, PS70 in Astoria, to speak to 3rd and 5th graders at the school’s career day. I was thrilled to be able to talk about @nyckidsrise & the great work that group does to ensure college readiness by supplying kids with college savings accounts.

Cathy Nolan embodied all the best qualities of a public servant. From fighting for universal pre-k to being the first woman chair of the Assembly’s Labor Committee, she forged a progressive path for all who followed in her footsteps.
I’m deeply saddened by her loss.

We are very sad to hear of the passing of former Assemblymember Cathy Nolan today. She represented our district here in Queens for 38 years, and was a great supporter of the Archives and our work. She will be greatly missed.

There was no one like Cathy Nolan. A fierce warrior for western queens, the working class, women & so many others who admired her courage. She was a supporter of LGBTQ rights before it became fashionable. Her endorsement of me in 2009 helped me win that race. Grateful. RIP Cathy.

Former Assembly Member Cathy Nolan has passed away, per Speaker Carl Heastie. In a statement, he called her "a dedicated public servant and a trailblazer." Nolan repped western Queens for nearly four decades in a seat now held by Claire Valdez
