With news breaking of an American Great White Egret (Ardea alba egretta) in Ireland last Nov (id'ed from shots) - here's a European (alba) for ref - Cloheen March Jun22. Note green lores & pale legs - the Americans have a dark mark on lores and v.dark legs. #birding @BirdGuides

Cyprus Day 15 (y'day, now back home). No last day lifers but some good clips after the rain at Paphos Archaeological Park. Collared Flycatcher, Whinchat, Spanish Sparrow & Wood Warbler hide & seek. Huge thanks for loads of info from many local & visiting birders! #cyprusbirds

Cyprus Day14's lifer was hearing Black Francolins calling as April's Pink Moon rose over Akrotiri Marsh (to windy to record). Also, Lesser Moorhen seconds, better Med. Shag views, and Red-rumped Swallow - clue in the name 😀! #cyprusbirds

Cyprus Day 13's monochrome lifers near Paphos were 3 snazzy Baltic Gulls seawatching off Timi Head & brief view of a Collared Flycatcher at Asprokremmos Dam #Cyprusbirds

Cyprus Day 12's lifer was (Mediterranean) Shag of the "desmarestii" subspecies - very pale below - at Geronisos rock, albeit distantly. Also, locally rare Ravens at Avakas Gorge #cyprusbirds

Cyprus Day 11 was quiet, so here's a fab Marsh Sandpiper from Akrotiri Marsh yesterday at dusk (thanks N for ID confirmation). Last one I saw was the first Irish at Tacumshin in 1982! #cyprusbirds

Cyprus Day 9's lifer was a Long-legged Buzzard (thanks @AndersG2211 for ID) over Anarita. But the star of the day was a Roller at dusk after a long search 😀. Great Spotted Cuckoo & Corn Bunting also showed well. #cyprusbirds

Ever had a birding fever dream where you just keep finding Hoopoes? Thats what Thursday felt to me. Early morning at Toe Head, Co. Cork there were an incredible 6 on various lawns, then another near Baltimore. Arriving on Cape Clear I had an astounding 8 within three hours!
