Elon’s original vision of an open, American AI was right. He could still flip Grok to open source which could be checkmate. Why? If you flip Grok open source, you necessarily move all margins out of the model layer and down into the infrastructure (chips + CSPs) and above to apps. He owns a massive data center build, owns next gen inference AI and owns the most used app (Cursor). So arguably he would make *more* margin by doing this. Then moving the DCs to space makes even more sense.

Democrats blocked the consideration of the NDAA - our annual defense bill authorizing funding for our military. The DSA just released their platform that calls to directly defund and dismantle the military. 🤔 It’s evidently clear who is steering the Dem’s ship.

Pomp - try Cursor on Grok 4.5 … I’ve found it’s more transparent, faster, much less expensive. Even at $6 / 1M T I don’t think it’s “too expensive” given the productivity I think we’re finding that Chat doesn’t create productivity. It just (sometimes) makes the work product better

I went to a dinner last night with a number of CEOs and executives who are building AI products. Two takeaways were: 1. Everyone knows AI is making their company more productive, but many of them are finding it hard to measure the exact impact on the bottom line so far. There are anecdotal examples of margin expansion or cost savings, yet the full financial impact is not understood. 2. Token prices are way too high. Lots of conversation about using different models, harnesses, or other technology to get the productivity lift without the significant increase in compute costs. Bonus: There are young people building very large AI consultancy businesses by going to large companies and saying “you need AI, you dont’ know how to do it, but pay me a boat load of money and we will do it for you.” Very smart of these entrepreneurs.

Heterosexual couples who procreate should be honored. This shouldn’t be controversial. 5. Teach real personal finance, investing, and taxes starting in junior high. Our schools are failing at this. America needs to get its priorities straight. The future success of 🇺🇸 depends on how well we build an economy that works for the next generation. We’ve got work to do

I gave Cursor (on Grok 4.5) and Claude CoWork (on Sonnet 5) the same task. Analyze stock history, predict prices and model the option exercise. Finally predict the best time to execute. Both did the work. Cursor was MUCH faster, its answer clear and specific. Claude not so much.

Lindsey Graham came from humble beginnings and became one of the most powerful lawmakers in the most powerful nation on Earth. His story was a fundamentally American one. Early in my Senate tenure, I remember getting into a shouting match with Lindsey about a Ukraine funding bill at lunch and then learning the very next day that he was pushing rail legislation I really cared about behind the scenes. That was Lindsey Graham. He fought like hell for the things he believed in, and he was just as willing to go to bat for you when it counted. Lindsey had the best sense of humor in the Senate. He loved the game of politics. He was constantly asking which races were up and down, and how he could help. As he liked to say, “I don't care if you're an isolationist or a religious fanatic, so long as you have an R next to your name, I want you to win.” We certainly had our disagreements. But I couldn't help but like him. A one of a kind figure in our politics. I'll be praying for him and his family.
