@poetrypainter @___TheGOOdWitch Abraham gave in to the evil order, if he was stronger in morals he would have told God "No". And that story is in the old testament, I don't consider it reliable, I don't think a good God would ever order someone to commit evil, not even as a test.

@JohnSmithhd8 @___TheGOOdWitch You don't think that Abraham likely experienced suffering due to what God had asked of him? Nonethless God asked it. I don't know why you'd be upset at Abraham and not at God. Or maybe you are upset at God and that's the real issue.

@poetrypainter @___TheGOOdWitch A test of "dedication" to commit evil. If Abraham was truly good, he would have refused the order to commit evil. God letting Jesus die is different from Abraham holding the knife and being willing to murder his son.

You keep pretending that something happened that did not happen. Or that something WOULD happen that did not happen. The Bible says that this was a "test" of Abraham's dedication. God Himself would ultimately be willing to let His own Son die for the sins of mankind. God did NOT let Abraham kill Isaac. And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”

@poetrypainter @___TheGOOdWitch So Abraham is completely immoral drone and willing to commit whatever atrocity his boss ordered him to. Murder? Rape? Mutilation? Abraham would have done them all for his god.

@JohnSmithhd8 @___TheGOOdWitch Abraham was wholly dedicated to doing what God commanded him to do. This is the entire point. That's why God made the covenant with him.

@poetrypainter @___TheGOOdWitch The only thing that stopped Abraham from murdering his son was God rescinding the order at the last second, not Abraham's conscience, not his love for his son, not his belief that God would never order evil. What other evil would Abraham have been willing to do if God order him?

I used to think saying similar things was clever. But I wasn't Christian at the time. You have to understand that according to the Bible Abraham was 100 when his son was born and his wife was 90. God told them that they would HAVE a child and they were incredulous. So...these people were USED to talking directly to God.

@SamH0816 @reddit_lies God saying "sike" at the last minute doesn't change the fact that Abraham was literally willing to kill his son. The "test", as fucked up as it is, would have made more sense if the passing condition would be to say: "wtf? No, I'm not going to kill my son!". Abe is evil.

@JohnSmithhd8 @reddit_lies Honestly the hypothetical is nonsensical anyways since we have an example of God "commanding" child sacrifice to make a point on faith and then famously not allowing it to actually happen because child sacrifice is evil. The entire premise completely misses who God is.

@reddit_lies That's different because these people value their own careers over the commands of the literal Creator of the universe. Almost every leftist position can be boiled down to it being an extension of their extreme narcissism.

@___TheGOOdWitch We don't have to. That was something God asked of Abraham, to ensure that he was trustworthy to make a covenant with. In the end, Abraham did not kill his son, God intervened to stop him and provided a ram for sacrifice.

@Sargon_of_Akkad Sorry Carl, Restore are likely to hand Andy Burnham, the most popular Labour politician in the country, the keys to Number 10. And as long as he doesn't completely screw up, the British people with short memories will then elect re Labour in 2029. This is why Reform need to win.
