I am so impressed, and grateful, to the ketogenic dieticians in the epilepsy world who are stepping up to help psychiatric patients with the "off label" use of the ketogenic diet for serious mental disorders. And guess what? People are getting better!

@NightShiftMD I'm sorry. It was very hard when my father couldn't remember stories he told over and over every holiday. Your physical presence will bring her comfort, even if who you are or your relationship has been misplaced. Blessings and strength to you.

I’m sitting at the bedside of my big sister. Listening to Beatles songs softly weeping. Life is not fair.

@Phrick @anoncj1 @jerryteixeira @HealthnHacks thanks. Insulin release is circadian -- higher in the AM, lower in the PM. Earlier fasting window better for people with blood glucose / insulin issues. Also, eating in evening --> insulin spike --> results in peripheral clocks getting out of sync with master clock in the SCN.

@anoncj1 @jerryteixeira @HealthnHacks Opposite: If I stop food by 3:30p, I'm great till next morning. No hunger, sleep better, feel alert in the morning (don't need coffee). Eat later, wake more @ night, RAVENOUS in the AM. WHEN you eat matters as much as WHAT you eat; modern life makes it hard tho @JoyKiddie knows

@mrc314 I'm a Dietitian and you're right. I don't heal anyone... BUT I do teach therapeutic nutrition that enables people to put their type 2 diabetes, hypertension and dyslipidemia into remission. Does that count?

@cacophonyYYC as mentioned in the note, there are OTHER factors that good doctors ALSO take into consideration ALONG with blood test results, such as past medical history, lifestyle factors and family risk.

@JoyKiddie Wha? Why else would a doctor recommend a drug if not based on a blood test? Based on a psychic premonition? Doctor’s kid going off to university? Needing a back yard swimming pool?

@JoyKiddie @DiscoStew66 Proxies for Proxies until we find something we can medicate. None of these approaches are concerned with root cause and as long as we make markers targets through pharmacology, it's more of the same failed strategies.

@michaelwoodhci I once had my mind made up about low carbohydrate diets before a physician-friend came to speak with me 6 years ago. The whole idea of different sub-particles of LDL only came to light after many practicing doctors graduated.
