@PaulSpacey @IHateSoccerPod Not at all. I’m just saying, for example, Zavier Gozo played for La Roca an ECNL club, but then gets scooped up by RSL. So RSL gets credit for “developing” a European prospect. National team players could come from anywhere, just typically at some point they taken by an academy

@PaulSpacey @IHateSoccerPod Maybe not for clubs and teams but players aren’t trapped anywhere. We need more academies per capita for sure. But very few if any ECNL teams have the quality of a MLS academy. Expecting those teams to produce national team players is unrealistic.

@IHateSoccerPod ECNL has never been a legitimate pathway to the pro game. Do you know what is a good funnel for pro players? An actual meritocracy.

@HoboJ_ @TuskedUp It’s not about settling. You can’t “build” a championship team or everyone would do it. You have to hope to get a stroke of luck along the way and land a Jokic, Giannis, Shai, etc.

I don't have a problem with not having a chance to win a championship next year. I have a problem with building a team that doesn't have a chance to win one at all. And if you're okay with a fun or playoff competitive team that's fine. I'm not. I'm tired of the Jazz settling for okay. I want to win it all.

@TuskedUp @HoboJ_ Was mostly replying to the doom and gloom of the other account. Sorry for the stray. I get the Jazz might have a high floor and low ceiling. But I just get tired of the title or bust mentality. This Mammoth season was awesome. So many incredible moments.

@HoboJ_ @TuskedUp Why didn’t the Jazz just trade for Shai or Wemby?? Guh, they should be smarter than that. Seriously, on a given year 26 teams have to find a way to play exciting competitive basketball with less than a few percentage chance to win the finals. Calm down.

@HoboJ_ @TuskedUp Well 28 teams don’t have a chance to win a championship this year so they should all just already know that and trade away their players.

@BensHoops @andyblarsen What you’re both missing is that you need to have multiple options. Jamal Murray is pretty easy to take out cause he is the only guard creator on that team. Minnesota won’t be able to do that to Fox on SAS cause they have Castle and Harper alongside.

How do you look at what the Wolves are doing to Jamal Murray of all people and draft a short guard in the top 10 of this draft

@alex_russell5 @stuholden It’s a goal kick. Kick the damn ball. They need to speed up and use instincts, not over think every little thing. Play with flow naturally, once you start thinking….you’re a goner.

Youth soccer question, looking for any referees out there. The new 8 second keeper rule with corner kick enforcement — at what age is it being officially implemented in Youth Soccer? We had a ref start counting down our keeper this weekend, but I feel like it’s not consistent. At U10, doesn’t feel necessary to go crazy over it…

@andyblarsen @sweatypuffins I think the difference is Jazz v Bulls was the pinnacle of the sport. If Liverpool was playing Barca in the champions league and selling Messi jerseys that is absurd. This is 4-5 levels down from that and its hard to argue that RSL is a totally serious club.

Maybe it’s just how I was raised… I watched Michael Jordan in the NBA Finals… and I wanted the Jazz to win. I don’t think I’ll ever lose that competitiveness tbh
pin〒xo@sweatypuffins

@andyblarsen You sure do complain a lot for just watching the greatest soccer player to ever live in a league and city in which there's no reason he should be playing competitively. Sometimes take a breath and... don't worry, be happy. It's a game dude, not a war. People wear jerseys

@Callystarr Championship or bust mentality ruins pro sports. Only one team wins it all, you have to enjoy the moments along the way. If you get a title it’s the ultimate bonus but it can’t be the only focus.

As I reflect on the last few years as a Utah Jazz fan, I honestly can’t put into words how happy I am that this tanking nonsense is finally over. I don’t care what anybody says… I’d rather root for a team that wins 35 games and actually tries to win than sit through what we’ve watched the last two seasons… even if a championship was supposedly part of that equation. I know some people will strongly disagree with me… that’s fine… it is what it is. But I’ll be real… in my 45 years of life, watching this team since I was 11, I’ve never come closer to walking away as a fan than I did during this stretch. It made me appreciate past Jazz ownership even more… because no matter the circumstances, they never fully pulled the plug like this. And for that, I’m grateful… because what we just witnessed was flat-out disgusting. I get it… small market, all the usual arguments… I’ve heard them all. I still don’t want to see this ever again. I sincerely hope the NBA finds a way to truly reduce tanking in this league… because I genuinely love this sport… but competing to lose should never be part of it.

@ArtTakesNote Of course not. It’s a different stratosphere simply because Wilson was a 7-figure NIL guy who had the gameplan drawn up around him, Hendricks was a diamond in the rough who was a late bloomer. Both draw Siakim comparisons, and have nearly identical bodies

I don’t see it with Caleb Wilson as a draft option for the Jazz. He seems to be Taylor Hendricks, if Taylor had happened to be a 5-star recruit and had the game plan drawn up around him in college. Taylor/Caleb will be a fine NBA player, and is a great pick at around 10ish, but I would pass on him if the Jazz are picking at 4 or higher

@BlatantHomerism Indeed, about five seconds. I feel like the 3-second rule has gone the way of palming and traveling - needs to be egregious. Saw it in other games as well. Still …

Morgan Guilavogui is gonna be a problem. Dude is a baller, and fits perfectly in the kinda-a-10, kinda-a-9 role in this RSL 3-4-3 (or 3-2-5 at times). Imagine him with Luna and Olatunji in the team, too. Gozo. Sanabria.

@stevemagness If that 14 minute kid can’t run a sub 10 second 100m then he isn’t fast and should find a new activity. If you don’t agree you don’t understand running.

Most people don't understand running. It's why a non-runner will be more impressed by someone who jogged a 4 hour marathon than a kid who ran a 14 minute 5k In the sport, we obsess over what "fast" is, grading and judging ourselves Outside of it...no one has any freaking clue
