what actually happened was that we had a MAGA member in the server who was openly anti-lgbtq. i made an announcement saying anyone who supported trump's policies should dm me so they could be quietly removed from the server and refunded. i don't want their money.

Here's a fun story as I understand things. A day patreon 1 supporter was in their server. The topic of illegal immigration came up. This supporter was themself the grandson of immigrants who came legally. Their grandparent was murdered mid rape by an illegal immigrant. So naturally, this day 1 patreon supporter voiced their opinions on the matter. They were for the deportation of illegal immigrants. This sent their server into a frenzy in which the supporter was kicked for "the safety of the others in the server". Very wholesome community Skitty is fostering. Attacking victims because reality makes them look bad.

I once watched an episode of TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress” where Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar chose to renew their marriage vows.
I remember rolling my eyes so hard at the “modesty collar” Michelle brought to her dress shopping appointment to make sure not an inch of neck was visible as she tried on dresses.
I’m freshly struck by the inanity of the whole performative modesty of the entire affair given what we now know was happening behind the scenes in this home.
I genuinely hope the masses learn these lessons by proxy instead of continuing to promote purity culture as the cure.

@EruditeTogether Homeschooling is for psople who want to micro-manage every second of their child's life in the hope they can "protect" them.
Generally not a great plan unless you are rich and hiring professionals

I am a Christian, and I have two daughters. Both my daughters attend public school.
When my daughters were old enough to go to school I felt so much pressure from the Christian culture to homeschool them.
I went to public school and had a really good experience, but everyone was treating public school like it was the devils playground.
I tried to homeschool my oldest in preschool and I realized how terribly unequipped I was to teach. I didn’t have the discipline, nor the mental capacity to teach from home.
I think public school is great. The teachers are all so intentional, the school counselors are lovely, and their principal remembers their names and things about them.
We are very involved parents. We go on field trips, take them to school events, and go to all their conferences.
Honestly, public school gets way too much hate.

Postmaster General David Steiner testified before Congress today with three options on the table.
Option one: do nothing and USPS runs out of cash by February 2027. Option two: severe service cuts and stamps over a dollar, which Congress and the public will not accept. Option three: raise the $15 billion borrowing cap that has not moved since 1992.
That cap should be $30 to $40 billion if adjusted for thirty years of inflation. Steiner did not arrive at that number through ideology. He ran the nation's largest waste management company and sat on the FedEx board. He said he did not understand how bad the crisis was until he took the job. "I'm not sure some of the people at the Postal Service realized how dramatic it was."
Six hundred thousand career employees. Every rural route in Indiana. Every prescription that travels by mail to a Noblesville senior who does not drive. Every small business shipping package from a garage in Elkhart. All of it runs on an agency legally prohibited from borrowing what it needs to operate.
"How long are employees going to work and vendors going to show up if we're not paying them?" That is the postmaster general of the United States talking to Congress today. The answer is not complicated. Lift the cap.

When you see videos like this, and you’re not sure whether or not it’s animal abuse, imagine if this were dogs and cats being housed and treated like this. When you realize “ oh, this is animal abuse” then you need to look within yourself and figure out why the animal needs to be “cute” for you to realize how it’s being treated is wrong

@paleonormie I ordered a pizza from a local place, picked it up myself. It was $40 for 1 pizza. That's insane. Delivery would have been an additional $5 plus a tip.
Eating out isn't worth it.

@CrocodileCam Don't crocs have armor that makes them far more resilient to a smack than a dog? I don't know the context of this, but ensuring you aren't bit by a croc seems pretty valid especially if theres that many.
How ever it does seem that area is far too small for that many crocs.

Otto Warburg proved in 1931 that cancer cells are obligate glucose metabolisers. He won the Nobel Prize. We've known for 95 years. Hospital dessert menu: jelly, ice cream, fruit juice, and a biscuit. Served to the oncology ward. The Nobel Committee has not commented.
