@KanwalSibal Sir, your apology sounds like sour grapes. The fact is India has been trying to isolate Pakistan. This specific crisis was god-sent for us to demonstrate Indian soft power as we have good relations with both Israel and Iran, and yet here we are - Pakistan hosting the mediation.

Pak Dy PM and FM is pointing at the Pak propaganda machine at work, making Pakistan appear a central player in ending the Iran conflict. As if the US and Iran needed its counsel on Iran’s nuclear, missile, regional role, Hormuz Strait, America’s military deployments, Trump’s threat to wipe out Iran’s civilisation etc. The US and Iran have discussed the ins and outs of their differences in great detail. Iran has showed willing to compromise consistent with its rights and national dignity. Trump says he is not satisfied with 90 or 95% concessions by Iran. He wants 100%. Islamabad is just a convenient vanue for security and other reasons and not an active player in resolving the highly complex issues dividing Iran and the US. Pak mediation skills can’t even be deployed for peace with Afghanistan. It has sought Saudi help with the Taliban.

UK parliament today👇 “Pakistan is playing a leading role in efforts to end the United States–Iran conflict by prioritising peace. Today, I asked the Prime Minister how the United Kingdom is supporting the Pakistani government in its effort to secure a lasting and sustainable peace in the Middle East.” —- Rt Hon Mohammed Afzal MP

This is exactly why cleanliness in India struggles, not because systems don’t exist, but because accountability doesn’t. A railway staff member in Sdah–Ajmer SF Express (12987) casually throwing garbage out of a moving train, and then justifying it? This isn’t ignorance, it’s arrogance. If those responsible for maintaining public spaces themselves treat the country like a dustbin, what message does it send to citizens? Strict action must be taken. Not warnings, not transfers… real consequences. @AshwiniVaishnaw @RailMinIndia Fix the mindset before preaching “Swachh Bharat.”

Development Claims vs Reality: Broken Roads Outside Premier Institute The road quality here is extremely poor and completely unacceptable, especially for such a prominent location. Instead of a proper black-topped surface, the stretch is filled with loose stones, broken patches, and uneven mud. There is barely any proper paving visible, making the entire road difficult and unsafe to drive on.The amount of dust in this area is alarming. Every passing vehicle lifts clouds of dust into the air, creating serious discomfort for commuters, pedestrians, and nearby residents. This not only reduces visibility but also poses health risks, particularly for people with respiratory issues. It is shocking that a road in such a key area has been left in this neglected condition. The surface is uneven, poorly maintained, and clearly ignored by the authorities. Daily commuters are forced to navigate through this mess, risking damage to their vehicles and their own safety. This reflects a complete lack of accountability and planning. Basic road infrastructure is not a luxury it is a necessity. When roads near important institutions are in such a state, it raises serious questions about maintenance standards across the city. Immediate action is needed to properly repair and restore this stretch before it leads to accidents or further deterioration. #bangalore #bengaluru #iimbangalore @TVMohandasPai @BlrCityPolice @blrcitytraffic @CPBlr @Jointcptraffic @alokkumar6994 @DgpKarnataka @KarnatakaCops @Lolita_TNIE @ChristinMP_

@Nidhi Whatever Govt of India chose to do was highly prudent, pragmatic and in line of it's expected duties and monumental responsibilities. Everyone is not sitting in a position bereft of any responsibilities like you, @Nidhi, to do & say whatever one feels like.

Except the Indian government was hardly “silent”. They clearly sided with Israel. And then belatedly recognised the need to condole the death of Iran’s leader and reach out to Iran.
Shashi Tharoor@ShashiTharoor

My latest #TharoorThink column in the @IndianExpress explains why I have not joined the widespread liberal critique of the Indian government’s “moral failure” to condemn the US-Israeli attack on Iran. India has too much at stake to indulge in the morally gratifying grandstanding that could have placed vital national interests at risk. As the late Kofi Annan advised me, citing a Ghanaian proverb: “never hit a man on the head when you have your fingers between his teeth!”

Air India has revived every one of the 30 legacy aircraft it inherited post-privatisation, taking its fleet strength to 186. This wasn’t a cosmetic overhaul, but a full nose-to-tail rebuild with engines replaced, 3,000+ components installed, and 4,000+ maintenance tasks completed. Tata Group still doesn’t get enough credit for taking over an airline in dire straits and rebuilding it piece by piece. via @businessline

In Parliament today I proposed optional Joint filing of Income Tax Returns for married couples. Family A Both spouses earn ₹10 lakh each. Total household income is ₹20 lakh. Tax: zero Family B One spouse earns ₹20 lakh. The other stays home to raise their child. Total household income is ₹20 lakh. Tax: ₹1.92 lakh The only difference is how the salary is split between the two spouses. One roof. One kitchen. One household budget. But when tax time comes, the family disappears. The tax system sees two individuals. A husband and wife become strangers. No clubbing of income or rebates. In Parliament today I proposed optional joint filing of Income Tax Returns for married couples, so families with uneven incomes are not unfairly penalised. If implemented, then Family A and Family B both will pay Zero Tax.

Effectively all growth in corn production over the last 20 years is for ethanol. ~20 million acres of conservation land, grassland, and soybean rotation was turned into corn monoculture that effectively strip mines the topsoil. Meanwhile it’s the most fertilizer dependent crop with only a 40% uptake rate. So ~1.7 million tons of nitrogen runoff flows into the Mississippi basin annually while also polluting their own water supplies. This runoff ends up expanding the Gulf deadzone, which is also where 40% of domestic seafood comes from. It’s hard to find a worse way to create fuel, with a wicked level of waste and downstream consequences.

45% of US corn production is for fuel ethanol and related. In other words almost half of the market is a form of ag subsidy with negative effects.

So India was undercounting its GDP by 16%? That would mean we’re already a $5+ trillion economy. $4.51T + 16% = $5.23T.

@Thedharmic1 @up_10t_army have seen enough of your IT cell type idiots who will blame all the issues back to people instead of asking Govt for accountability. If the city is shithole, why will people not throw garbage. Building infra, cleanup and governance (which can impose fine) is y govt exists.
