Update to this… they really are the worst company in Britain right now - and you won’t believe what @virginmedia have done. I called VM on April 30 asking them to come and fix a broken outside cable at my house. I was (wrongly) told that in order to fix the cable I had to agree a new two year contract which included a main 360 TV box and three streaming boxes. Nothing was ever arranged about fixing my problem, the broken cable. The Indian call centre guy just wanted a sale. After many calls and a missed appointments where I waited in pointlessly after no one ever turned up, an engineer came to fix the cable and install my new boxes. The TV never worked. More calls, two more engineer visits, and it still wouldn’t work. I then posted the original below on X. I then a call from the Virgin Media CEO @LutzSchueler’s assistant to say they MISSOLD me the new contract I never wanted because VM no longer offers 360 TV boxes which allow you to pause, record and rewind live TV. I said ok fine, just put me back on my old contract which had a 360 box - the contract I never would have left until you missold me a new one under the pretence I needed it to fix my broken cable. The CEO’s assistant said no, I can’t go back onto my old contract. And she said I can’t have a 360 box on my new contract. So I’m now stuck with a service I don’t want and was lied to about - with no option to return to my previous contract that I was perfectly happy with since April 2025. They’ve not only missold me a contract, spent hours and hours of my time trying to sort it and caused a hell of a lot of stress - but they’ve now also breached my old contract. She offered me £200 compensation and an apology and said I must stick with the new contract or disconnect. A completely shambolic, insulting and quite frankly disgusting way to treat a customer who has been with them for years. I’ve heard from many of you about similar situations and will now be taking the case to the ombudsman. A clear breach of the Consumer Rights Act and the The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. If anyone has similar experiences with @virginmedia please write them below or DM me. I’ll be fighting for British consumers to make sure they can never treat people like this again.
Ben Leo@Benleo

Congrats to @virginmedia for being perhaps the WORST company I’ve ever had the misfortune of dealing with in Britain. Three engineer visits, five plus calls to Indian call centres, and still you can’t activate the TV contract you upsold me when I simply called to get my connection back. Awful, awful business model.

@Vfynn_ Make Southampton pay half the tv rights payments to Middlesbrough, if they beat Hull ,from the premier league payments ,,if they lose then the 4 points is enough punishment along with a stain on their clubs name

🚨🎙️Thierry Henry on Southampton expelled for spying drama against Middlesbrough: “I have to be honest, this is a difficult one. Spying on another team’s training is wrong. Full stop. It crosses a line, it undermines the trust that should exist between clubs, and I understand why Middlesbrough are furious and why the EFL felt they had to act strongly. Integrity matters in this game. At the same time, I find myself questioning whether expulsion from the play-offs is the right punishment. It feels… heavy. Almost like using a sledgehammer when a precise scalpel was needed. Let’s be clear: this wasn’t match-fixing or doping. It was analysts pushing boundaries for tactical information, something that, sadly, has happened in different forms across the game for years. Marcelo Bielsa did it openly at Derby and Leeds, admitted it, and people called him a genius, not a criminal. Drones, analysts in trees, whatever, in the modern game with data and marginal gains everywhere, clubs push boundaries. Southampton admitted it, yes, and they deserve punishment. A heavy fine, points deduction, maybe even a ban for the staff involved. But kicking the entire club out after they earned their place on the pitch? That punishes players, coaches, and fans who had nothing to do with one or two analysts doing something stupid. What troubles me most is the collateral damage. The players who battled through a tough Championship season after relegation, who went to extra time and scored that late goal to beat Middlesbrough on the pitch, they earned their place in the final through merit. Now that achievement is being erased because of actions taken by a small number of staff members. That feels disproportionate to me. A significant fine, a points deduction for next season, and sanctions against the individuals responsible, those would be strong, meaningful punishments that address the breach without nullifying an entire season’s competitive work. Sport has to balance two things: protecting fairness and recognising that human error and ambition sometimes lead people astray. If every rules breach in high-stakes moments leads to rewriting results, we risk turning the disciplinary process into something more powerful than the football itself. I’ve sat in dressing rooms where we prepared meticulously for opponents. Everyone does. The difference is getting caught. I hope Southampton appeal and that the final decision finds a better equilibrium. Middlesbrough deserve respect, they were wronged but the players of Southampton also deserve not to have their legitimate efforts wiped away. Football is emotional, passionate, and imperfect. The response to this should reflect wisdom as much as outrage. We need clearer rules going forward so incidents like this become rare, but we must be careful not to let one mistake destroy what was built legitimately on the grass.

German referee Patrick Ittrich has suggested making the following changes to football's rules: 1) "For a tactical foul in midfield, a free-kick should be awarded 17 metres from goal. How often will we see such fouls then?" 2) "If the player rolls on the floor three times and needs a doctor, get him one and make him wait on the sideline for 3 minutes. How quickly do you think the player will stand up?" 3) "If a player insults the referee, send them off for 10 minutes to calm down. Go cycling to warm up before coming back in. We can learn from handball in that respect." 4) "How is a referee surrounded by 10 men after a decision? In my opinion, boom, boom, boom — three red cards. Play seven against ten now. That'd be fine by me."

The 9-3 turrets have finally done what they all do, which given 10years on a steelworks isn't shocking. Now I have 3of choices: 1. Panels @ £70 ea. Get a welder. Get busy. 2. Panels. Ship it to someone. 3. Treat, cake. Run it until fails. And break for parts.

James Cleverly forced out of rented home in Essex by Labour’s Renters’ Rights Act as landlord decides to sell instead. The former Home Secretary, his wife and children are now facing eviction after their landlord chose to sell the property rather than continue renting under the new rules. Critics say this perfectly exposes the fatal flaw in Keir Starmer’s flagship housing policy. Instead of protecting tenants, the Renters’ Rights Act is making thousands of landlords sell up and exit the market altogether. Tens of thousands of ordinary renters across Britain now risk losing their homes because of this ill-thought-out legislation. Many landlords have already warned they will not renew tenancies or will simply sell, dramatically reducing the supply of rental properties and driving rents even higher.

Brian has been keeping a log of Doris's incursions into his field since March. Brian's log, selected entries: - March 4th. Doris. Through the gap by the ash tree. Ate rank corner. Noted. - March 9th. Doris again. Same gap, repaired Tuesday. Method unknown. Ate more rank corner. Gap repaired again. - March 17th. Doris. Different gap. How. Grazed the tussocky section I've been meaning to sort. Left. - March 23rd. Doris. Back through the ash tree gap. I repaired this. I watched myself repair it. Grazed the area round the old wall. Seems fine. - April 1st. Doris. Three times. Different entry point each time. Beginning to wonder if she's teaching the others. - April 7th. Doris plus two gimmer ewes. The gimmers don't know the gaps yet. Doris led them in. This is deliberate. I have no other explanation. - April 14th. Rang the farmer. Farmer said Doris has been doing this for two years. Farmer did not sound worried. Farmer said the rank corner 'needed something' and he'd run out of ideas. Farmer said this in the tone of a man who has made peace with it. - April 19th. Doris. Alone. Grazed the tussocks, the rank corner, the area by the old gatepost. Left. Back through the ash tree. - April 19th, addendum. Checked the rank corner properly for the first time in a year. Tormentil coming through. Also harebells. Brian has added a column to the log. The column is headed: Net Outcome. Every entry in the Net Outcome column reads the same. Brian has not told Doris this. Doris is in Brian's field.

The Husky
The Husky@Mr_Husky1·
A man thought the worst part of his day was changing a flat tire in the middle of nowhere, until a rhino came out of nowhere and smashed into his car. A trail camera in the wild captured the man alone on a remote road, focused on replacing a flat tire while a rhino wandered somewhere nearby. He worked fast, got the damaged tire off, and managed to put the spare on, thinking he had just barely avoided a disaster. But right as he was finishing up, the rhino suddenly charged into the side of the car, damaging it again and blowing out the back tires. With no spare left and no real way to fix the damage, he was left stranded in the middle of nowhere. He later called a friend for help, but the story sounded so ridiculous that it was hard to believe until they checked the truck camera. The moment the footage played, showing the rhino slamming into the vehicle, his friend started laughing and told him he was going to be just fine.
