Welles cast Kitt in a theater production as Helen of Troy. He was clear that he was taking theatric liberties and called his play an avant garde interpretation of Helen. This is a far cry from what Christopher Nolan is doing. I don’t like the casting choice for Helen any more than I would approve of George Clooney playing Nelson Mandela.

What you said makes no sense whatsoever. For a conservative, what matters is tradition without ruptures, though still allowing for progress. Nolan’s film is an aesthetic, historical, and cultural rupture. It betrays the original story, the country of origin, and the underlying culture. I am outraged that a swastika flag was raised overlooking Washington Square Park. This hateful antisemitic act was meant to spread fear among and intimidate Jewish New Yorkers. It has no place in our city.
