@TWGieser @TheCatholicEngr Probably the RSCJ (Religious of the Sacred Heart of Jesus)! The network is based in St Charles MO.
English

@TheCatholicEngr Nice. What about the ones that came over in 1860?
English

I signed up to be a judge for a citywide high school STEM competition today and the group of students I was assigned turned out to be from the Catholic girls school in the city
They had amazing projects/inventions, did the market research, demonstrated how it would solve the problem they identified, and even made a prototype
These students were taught well by their teachers
During the break I looked up the history of their Catholic school and learned that it was founded by nuns in the 1860s who came from France
That reminded me of the Catholic girls school that I went to in Pakistan. It was also founded by nuns in the 1860s, but nuns from Belgium.
I was seated next to a fellow judge who's a microbiologist. She grew up in India and she also went to a Catholic girls school. The nuns who founded her school came from Italy!
Shout out to our amazing nuns.
The world is objectively better because of their efforts and sacrifices.

@travisakers The parents that think we should let their kids be distracted by phones will be the ones moaning about their kids' poor grades.
English

Yes, you can text your kid anytime you please, but if they are using their phone in my class, they’re not going to see your message because the phone is being confiscated and you can pick it up in the office after school, because that’s where it’s going when your child violates the law in Florida.
Thank you, @GovRonDeSantis, teachers are grateful for this support in the classroom, especially with entitled and verbally abusive parents.
Murphy 🌵@shelobcat
I will text my kids anytime I please. If you think I trust that drama filled, parent hating government school employee who answers the phone to give my child a message you have lost your damn mind. Sucks to have 35 kids in a class. I’m sure a text to my kid is the reason they do not listen to you.
English

@JamesUrbaniak I mean, she probably got hurricane windows and doors. How is that a major renovation? That's just Florida. Must be a slow news day.

@tjsingletonjr @sage_stage I agree coaches can use the information, and usually have no problem with keeping the coach in the loop, and even going to the coach if there are specific issues with a student-athlete. In the original post, the coach implying some threat to the teacher rubbed me the wrong way.
English

@KimForgey1 @sage_stage Letting the coach (an employee of the school) know the grade is a way to help the students do well. It’s acting in the student’s interests, not gossiping. It’s also necessary for the coach to know whether a student is ineligible to play because of poor grades

@OKWildlifeDept But they have such soft little hands, like the finest leather gloves!
English

pls stop tagging me in this, I'm breathing into a paper bag
Nature is Amazing ☘️@AMAZlNGNATURE
Raccoons actively domesticating themselves is something I could talk about forever.
English

@JahangirAsgha10 We had one, until we got a cat. After the cat knocked 5 butter bells off the counter in 6 months, we gave up. But they work so well!
English

@yashar @chefjoseandres @WCKitchen I certainly hope so. He and his team go anywhere and everywhere when there’s a need. Well deserved.
English

@newheightshow The Colts-Dolphins shitshow, please. Why are the Dolphins so bad this year? How long can Mike McDaniel expect to hold on as coach unless there's an immediate turnaround?
English

@MattRKay I have an Aisha (eye-sha) and an Asya (ah-see-ya) in the same class. For the first week, Asya corrected me every time I called on Aisha. “It’s Asya.” “No, not this time!”
English

@OuizerTeacher Half are appointed by our union (on-site). We have a slate of nominees for the other half, who are voted on my non-admin faculty and staff. Elections every year.
English

@travisakers Public school teacher here. This is like a parent telling me "My taxes pay your salary" when they don't like what/how I teach or grade. First, each person's tax dollars are a miniscule portion of my salary. Second, I pay taxes too, so I pay some of my own salary. MYOB on SNAP.
English

SNAP should help families access real nutrition, not subsidize junk food and sodas. Taxpayers shouldn’t foot the bill for sodas while kids go without fresh fruits and vegetables, or have to pay for school lunch.
Angela Belcamino@AngelaBelcamino
I've never faced so much backlash just for questioning why my tax dollars fund soda, essentially obesity and diabetes in a bottle, for SNAP recipients. How did I end up here?
English

@MBDscience I've used it for parent emails: "Please say 'xxxxxxx' but politely."
English

@VictoriaTheTech I saw a teacher call it "CheatGPT" today and that's my new name for it going forward.
English

@thecavemommy The creditors want to see if they can guilt surviving family members into paying the debt, even though they aren't legally required to. (This is totally separate from a question of whether the creditor can collect from the estate.)
English

@VictoriaTheTech I gave up on Food Network a few years ago because of this. CreateTV shows lots of the PBS cooking shows. I also watch Pluto TV for Americas Test Kitchen, Jamie Oliver, and BBC Food channels.
English

@MattRKay 99.9% of my Twitter bookmarks are “here’s something cool” things that teachers have shared.
