Two Commas Quest Update: The deportation numbers are starting to trickle out and confirm what I've been saying over the last year: there is not a mass deportation campaign underway, so the libs can stop rioting. There should and could be a mass deportation campaign, though. For FY25: 442k ICE returns AND removals (note that formal deportations are a PART of that total number, so deportations would come in at number much lower than 442k). While I'm glad to see 1M as a goal for FY26 (two commas), it should be for formal deportations as opposed to a broader category of what is making up "returns." And that number should scale much higher for FY27. The Mass Deportation Coalition @Phase2Deport playbook lays out how to get there. Mass deportation is very doable but it's a choice that must be made. Full data transparency and meaningful metrics could go a long way for building public trust and accountability. That would mean ditching the current multi-million numbers that are bandied about in press releases/TV hits without justification.
