Nothing gets me more geeked than talking with other designers about design. About process. About the ways they approach problems. Got this banger from a convo w/ @LC_Finch today about Figma Make, AI, prototyping, and why (and when) speed matters. Love it, Luke! Agree 100%.

@LC_Finch Do you have any tips on how to connect figma designs to implement w/ claude code?

Figma make is insane once you've figured out how to get your design system in there. I spent a crazy amount of time this week getting it working and ran into a few hiccups. I published my adivce here for you all. Build → Publish → Install → Done finchy.medium.com/how-to-get-you…

@Dustin_Kirk I want to be clear here - Most of this was entirely on our system, and not Figma's fault. The only complaint I have was around the silent build failures, and the Figma team have been very receptive to feedback.

@LC_Finch Oof, no wonder Figma stock is tanking, they need to fix this. We all have design systems built out and it is crazy hard to get AI to use them or make updates to them.

@LC_Finch has provided a really helpful guideline for people wanting to use your Design System package in Figma Make. His article goes into some details about some of the hiccups he’s discovered along the way and how to resolve these

I've been tinkering away with a live design <> code, desktop app where you can select any element in the DOM and it takes you straight to the source code.

@NateBaldwinArt Feels almost irrelevant now in the age of AI, we can all just write custom parsers, or have LLMs do the transforms

@disco_lu Seems like a useful utility class to have design and code talking the lingua-figma

What's curious when inspecting Notion is that they have a lot of CSS classes that match the naming conventions of Figma and there are no CSS variables referenced, styles are inline! This is giving me a hunch that maaaybe they are using some sort of Figma → code conversion 🤔

I remember a while ago someone said that Notion doesn't have a design system, so I think I might make something I'll build how I would approach making a Figma kit in the Notion style, with naming conventions and an opinion on component structure and then post to the community

@figma launched the amazing Figma Draw, and I’m especially excited about the Text on Path feature! I built a plugin to solve this for myself years ago, now Figma has it built in natively. 🎉 My plugin can happily retire, and I’m thrilled more people can bring their creative ideas to life. Huge thanks to @rogie, @maxvoltar, @lbudorick and the incredible Figma team for pouring so much heart into this! ✨

@negativespaceca Always been a fan of it. Easy to handle in one place and give “freebies” to consuming teams. Reduce refactoring pain.

How many of you who are building design systems (in code) are abstracting responsive layouts and typography into reusable components?

@RobertJBye @figma Ah so it does! I think this could be improved by letting people drag a region to generate that preview. For example I've been tagged in a comment on someone's annotation - and all I see is the annotation, not the thing being commented on.

OK, @figma desktop app users! What are your thoughts if we added decaying tabs to our app? i.e. if you don't open a tab for say 48hrs we automatically close it for you, keeping your tabs tidy – but with a way to quickly reopen them. This would be an opt in experience.
