It’s interesting that our only focus seems to be on what 97 will decide to do, whether that’s this summer or next or whenever. And it’s obviously because he only has a 2-year deal. But I mean, nothing is stopping Leon Draisaitl from asking out one day if that’s what he wanted. Not saying he will nor do I have any feeling he will. But just because he signed an 8-year deal doesn’t mean he will necessarily play it out all in Edmonton.

From a statistical standpoint, for two stars who have been on the receiving end of infractions all playoffs, the probability of McDavid and Draisaitl drawing zero penalties defies logic. It’s evident that refs put their whistles away because Oilers star players are too good.

Kuch had Vasilevskiy. Ovi had Holtby. Selanne had Giguere. Bourque had Roy. All of which have at least 1 Vezina and/or Conn Smythe in their cabinet. McDavid has a trio of three guys who have cleared waivers to the AHL over the past two seasons. Need a damn goalie.
