Daily record highs were smashed today with readings an incredible 25°F above the daily normals. Not only were these daily record highs for March 19th, but also the warmest temperatures recorded in March for the period of record for these 3 major climate sites. #azwx #cawx

Well, if yesterday's map was ridiculous, I'm running out of superlatives to characterize today's. Countless locations from Pacific Coast to Great Plains are currently experiencing all-time record March warmth, w/ some locations approaching/exceeding April (or even May) records.

A new United States national temperature record for March of 110 degrees was provisionally set near Martinez Lake, Arizona on Thursday.

Well, folks, right now we sit back and watch over the next few days and find out how resilient our record-low snowpack is to record-shattering March heat. It's kinda like watching how your tank made of balsa wood holds up against a bazooka.

It's been the warmest start to March on record for the United States. Temperatures have been 9.4 degrees above-average across the country as a whole during the first 10 days of the month. No areas have experienced below-average temperatures.

BAD NEWS! Usually, we don't see our statewide snowpack peak until around March 24. However, with an upcoming ridge and accompanying heatwave, I think we've already peaked. If that turns out to be the case, this season's peak statewide mean snowpack will be the lowest on record.
