This is only a small moment from The Witcher 3, but it's yet another example of how these characters view Ciri and how the games and books treat her.
There are constant remarks about Ciri being a Witcher, or wanting to be a Witcher, or being raised as one.
If Ciri becoming a Witcher was a surprise to you, or if it didn't feel like the best and most obvious direction forward for the franchise, I just think you weren't paying attention.

I just FaceTimed my daughter, who has worked more gunshot wounds than anyone should ever have to in her EMS job. She immediately said that’s gauze. She wouldn’t go so far as to call it QuikClot specifically, but she said it’s absolutely wound-packing gauze that’s been removed from a wound and left to dry.
This is the kind of stuff she has to clean out of her ambulance after GSWs and other major trauma with severe bleeding. Once gauze is saturated with blood and tissue fluid, removed, and allowed to dry, it no longer looks white. It turns dark red, brown, or almost black and clumps together exactly like this.
So forgive me if I’m not putting much stock in Candace’s unnamed “surgeons” who supposedly think this is a burned polyester shirt. If that’s really what they believe, she ought to name them so the rest of us know who not to let anywhere near an operating room.
