🟢 IMPORTANT UPDATE ON THE JUNO DEBATE: Caroline Elliott initially committed to attend the only BC Conservative leadership debate taking place before the membership cutoff. This is the moment members will decide who becomes the next Premier of British Columbia. It is a big deal. Then things took a turn. After agreeing to the date, format, and venue, Elliott’s campaign went ahead and bought out nearly every ticket to the venue. General admission was $50, VIP was $100. They cleared it out. Deep pockets. Impressive, I guess. We weren’t going to let one campaign control the audience, so we moved the debate to a larger venue. Every campaign deserves a fair crowd. No issue there. At that point, Elliott backed out, and announced a mix & mingle event on the other side of the province. This isn’t simply a matter of avoiding other candidates like Yuri Fulmer, Iain Black, Kerry-Lynne Findlay, Warren Hamm, or Peter Milobar. Campaigns make strategic decisions all the time. This is about attempting to control access to voters, lighting a pile of cash on fire, then walking away when that failed. We’re proceeding with the debate. Elliott is welcome to reconsider. She will be treated fairly and given the same opportunity as everyone else. But right now, voters are left with a simple question: Why try to block people from attending a debate? If I were a donor, I’d want an answer to that. And if this is how a campaign handles a debate, it raises bigger questions about how they would handle power Every other candidate will be given a powerful, national platform to showcase their talent and ideas. Elliott is welcome to change her mind, again, and show up for the people that matter: people like you. The Juno News audience is the largest in the nation, and are the only stakeholders in this whole leadership race that I actually care about. Our readers deserve to hear from the people that want to lead Canada's west coast out of years of NDP destruction. I am excited, the cast of talent in this race is impressive, and I hope to see you there. JunoDebate.com.

@TheRealKeean This race is shockingly fluid. I was gonna vote for Elliot before, since she got the @HarmanBhanguBC endorsement & he was my top pick. But now I can't. And Milobar is waaaay too centrist. And Yuri Fulmer has no shot. Black is too weak/centrist. Looks like Findlay is my #1 now.

@fordnation You should have stood united with Pierre and the CPC, instead you had wine and cheese with Carney in your cabin.

@LighthouseCDN @JarrydJaeger Hahaha, that's funny. The BCNDP won't repeal DRIPA as they brought it in. Caroline has been on this issue from the get-go AND she's electable.

After watching Carney's speech, if CPC members had any brains they would dump PP. Two aren't even close in intellectual capability. Party needs to get someone who understands seriousness of what we face and also dump your Maple MAGA types who seem to hate Canada.

@VanIsleStuartD @JarrydJaeger All the candidates will have the same solution to that issue. It's low hanging fruit. It's so low hanging the NDP probably solve it before the election

@LighthouseCDN @JarrydJaeger Well maybe the base needs to listen to her especially if they don't want their homes being taken by their local First Nation.

When you see the speech that Carney gave in Davos, it's really hard to see how Poilievre can attack him successfully and win the next election. It's a brand new world compared to Trudeau Poilievre will need the economy to be down or I don't think he can win

@rupasubramanya The problem is I can't name a single CPC MP that would garner more votes than Pierre in a general election. The saviour for the CPC is sitting in the private sector somewhere right now.

I’m afraid it’s a little late for a course correction ahead of the next election. When the leader of your party takes the opinions of low IQ influencers more seriously, repeating their idiotic, ill informed talking points and conspiracies, and channelling their anger as if it were representative of the country, than those offering principled, constructive feedback, regardless of where it comes from on the partisan divide, that’s when you know the rot has set in at the top. The problem isn’t messaging or strategy. I question his judgment. The question for the CPC is: how many makeovers does Poilievre get?
Roman Fisher@RomanFisher__

I’m sorry guys, but what Poilievre has been putting out there lately won’t match this. Call it situational bad luck or whatever you want, but tinkering with marginal tax rates and criticizing DEI won’t cut it. Us in the CPC ought to realize the fact that Carney could win an upcoming election with a strong majority if we don’t lock in and present a really serious and comprehensive vision for Canada and our place in the world. If Poilievre won’t/can’t do it, we should find someone who will/can.

My prediction for 2026: The NDP will eventually get rid of their Leader who consistently flushes dumb activist policies that he came up with in the first place.

The best 5 yr fixed mortgage rate in Canada now is 3.69% The best variable rate is 3.49% The 0.20% lower VRM is not a lot of compensation to assume the additional risk. One BoC hike and VRM is higher The BoC is likely to hike over the next 5 years Unless there is a major economic crisis, then BoC/variable will likely drop further : - If US slams (not just threatens) Canada with tariffs for an extended period - If theres a debt or banking crisis - If there is a war, or other global crisis If any of these happen, you’re probably better off in a variable. Its just less likely, according to financial market odds So variable is higher risk, with higher potential for reward But in a base case scenario using market odds, fixed wins and is a higher overall value for most Canadians currently

NEW - Received calls from Abbotsford insiders this weekend who told me MLA Bruce Banman is sounding people out about a BC Conservative leadership run and he’s serious. Also hearing MLA Steve Kooner had been making calls recently. Not sure that goes anywhere. #bcpoli

@TristinHopper Pierre won't get boomers back until the Trump threat is resolved. That's why Carney will keep it top of mind until 2028. Then he'll start a fight with the next administration. Pierre's only hope is to get young people out in bigger numbers, which means doing podcasts this time.
