NEW: Bomb squad detonates a bomb in Long Island after police stumbled on the explosives while investigating a 15-year-old student over a swastika. Nassau County police visited the teen's home after he allegedly drew a swastika at his high school. When police arrived at the home, they allegedly discovered "chemicals" that had been combined to make explosives. After finding the bombs, the bomb squad shut down the street and was forced to destroy the bombs in controlled demolitions. Both the son and his father, 48-year-old Francisco Sanles, were arrested. The father's credit card was used to purchase the chemicals. Sanles is being held on $100,000 bail. Bizarre.

HOLY CRAP!!! Nearly 2,000 teachers in Charlotte NC have requested TO LEAVE WORK to "protest" on May 1st. At least 7 ENTIRE SCHOOL DISTRICTS have cancelled classes so that teachers can protest next Friday, including 2 of the 4 largest school districts in the state. "The school system cannot provide adequate supervision of students due to the volume of leave requests that have been submitted..." WHAT ARE WE EVEN DOING HERE?!!!!!! HOW IS THIS LEGAL?!!!

My cardiologist is worried about this massive clot in my heart and scheduled a scan but I have to get another doctor that I have never met to approve it. He can't meet with me for six months. Of course Mamdani was a no-show. There's nothing for him to gain politically from this, and really that's his only calculation ever. The entire incident is politically inconvenient for him -- a black gang member murdered another young black kid on a playground for absolutely no reason at all. He can't make any political hay from that. And he'd have to listen to furious and heartbroken mom demand her son's murderer be locked up forever. And that's just not something Zohran is interested in hearing, particularly not from someone he can't morally condescend to with his dumb grin. This mom doesn't want to hear his lectures about how we actually need to erase the gang database and close Rikers Island and decarcerate the prison population. So why would Zohran waste his time on her? He might have to pretend to be normal for a minute. He might have to admit to her that her son's murderer should indeed be in prison. And that's just not something Zohran is prepared to say to anyone. Because his revolutionary politics requires murderers to walk the streets freely. So he gets a few bad headlines about being a no-show, and gets back to making ridiculous Tik Tok videos. In a week, nobody remembers anything.
