Mr. President, completely agree about having a lot of fun over these next seven months.
But nitpicking? Some of your advisors are telling you to support things like:
- Using billions of taxpayer dollars to compensate convicted felons and thugs who attacked police. (Ed Martin)
- Pushing 50-year mortgages and Elizabeth Warren's housing bill over sound conservative housing policy. (Bill Pulte)
- Using taxpayer money to transform publicly traded companies into state-owned enterprises. (Howard Lutnick)
- Firing our very best generals and not holding Putin accountable for his systematic kidnapping, rape, torture, and murder of Ukrainian civilians. (Pete Hegseth)
If opposing these things makes me a RINO, then I gladly accept that nickname.
We need Republicans to do well in November, but the stupid stuff is killing our chances!

Try keeping literally anything out of your mouth

Keep Chicago out of your mouth.

@megbasham That is certainly part of the problem. Don't underestimate the role of institutional leaders. Some of them are secretly pro-lgbtq+ affirmation.
Enough of them are content to say nothing and let it happen gradually.
Faliure to oppose is tacit approval.

Part of why we have seen a downgrade in sound doctrine at so many Christian colleges (why they send mixed signals on LGBTQ affirmation for instance) is because they don’t want to risk falling afoul of federal regulation and risk losing federal money.
I would say this is the bigger problem.

The Big Beautiful Bill is pretty ugly for bible colleges, Christian universities, and seminaries. Christian Colleges Call New Federal Regulation an ‘Existential Threat’ -@EmilyBelz A proposed policy would label college programs “failing”—and block federal student loans—if graduates don’t out-earn peers without the degree. buff.ly/GYLhU8N

@CasuallyGreg Last I checked, the purpose of the government was to
provide for the common defense
promote the general welfare
ensure the blessings of liberty...

@bartbarber Really, the only thing on that list that women could not do is preaching/teaching ministry.

So, @JaredCBurt, I know that a lot of this arises out of the controversy du jour, but knowing that you and I are capable of having a healthy conversation, I want to offer a different take on your foundational premise here.

Women function as elders in thousands of SBC churches. They just aren't called elders. They are called committee members. And they help run the church. +

The careless decision to reduce our force posture in Europe, along with moves by Pete Hegseth and his political henchmen to force out some of our finest general officers is amateur hour at best and deadly at worst.
Hegseth continues to surprise and disrespect our greatest allies and some of our best military professionals with impulsive decisions not grounded in reality or good judgment. If the rumors are true that Hegseth is trying to sideline General Chris Donahue, one of our nation’s finest warfighters, by downgrading U.S. Army Europe-Africa to a 3-star command, he is taking another step down a dangerous path. A step that is not in the best interests of our nation or our servicemembers.
General Donahue has dedicated his entire career to upholding the high standards and warrior ethos that Hegseth claims he is restoring to our ranks. Gen. Donahue has led Soldiers at all levels in Airborne (including Ft. Bragg’s 82nd) and Mechanized units, the 75th Ranger Regiment, and our most prestigious special operation units. He deployed over 20 times in support of Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, New Dawn, Inherent Resolve, Atlantic Resolve, Freedom’s Sentinel, European Assure, Deter and Reinforce, and in support of the Sudan crisis.
Hegseth would do well to surround himself with more patriots like General Donahue and to get his henchmen, who are not qualified to carry Donahue's bag, out of the Pentagon. Keep your word, Mr. Secretary: choose meritocracy over your mediocre yes-men.

@bartbarber @JaredCBurt @mhenslee Lastly if we took Jesus seriously in Matt 23, we would not be using titles much at all.
His point is not so much that titles matter but that we should not use them to lord over people.
He is not saying, “I’m really persnickety about titles.”
English

@bartbarber @JaredCBurt @mhenslee …the sense of pastoring the congregation, then I see that as outside the BFM.
The question should be about function.
English

@bartbarber @JaredCBurt So, to summarize.
If the church in question changes the title to director from pastor without changing the job description, everything is great.
Leaving alone the title ends fellowship
English

@JaredCBurt What is the meaning of the verb "to pastor"? I think this very question is the rub.
I would say it means "to serve as a pastor/elder/overseer of a congregation."
English

@BasedMikeLee Imagine how dishonest one must be to post that nonsense.
