@DrLaurenceGalea Agree with the other folks below. These are trisacryl gelatin microspheres which among many utilities can be used for prostatic artery embolization to treat BPH. Great pictures!

Thanks so much to everyone that has clicked their way through our questions. It's curious, and perhaps not surprising, to see where we all land on this. We'll be sure to let everyone here know how this all shakes out.

An unusual #GIPath finding from a GEJ biopsy - ciliated cell heterotopia (/metaplasia?). Per @LizMontgomeryMD/@Voltaggiol’s ‘Biopsy interpretation of the GI mucosa’ - likely incidental. Good enough for me! Anyone else seen this before? Any other thoughts?

@Gut_BMJ @NStockerSAT Waldenstroms versus amyloid, favor the former. Whipples should have a subtle blue-gray tinge to the macrophages and should be PAS positive. In one panel shown here it looks negative. Great case.

Help! 📢 "10 mm whitish rectal plaque", old male. Have u ever seen these particles inside macrophages? Golden, refractile, non birefringent, PAS&Perls negative. We suspect might be related to past prostate vaporization therapy? Other ideas? Happy 2023! #GiPath #Pathology

@MFeelyDO Do you have a bit more clinical info? This does not look like a primary chancre. (syphillis is on the rise in most urban areas so I'm genuinely concerned)

Apparently these things come in a “plasma cell light” version now? I see more treponema IHC in my future. Nice case shared by a colleague. #GIpath #IDpath #UFpath

This was a perianal lesion in a young adult. Scouring their chart revealed a brief mention of "partner recently dx with syphilis". I shudder to think what the result could have been w/o that hx. Lessons: - Trust no one. Always check the chart. - It. Can. Always. Be. Syphilis.
