Kaniyalal Hemdev had just finished voting when he encountered Abdullah, who was in the city to attend an official event. The unexpected interaction turned into a brief but memorable exchange, his family said. “Mr Abdullah was extremely well-mannered, polite and very sweet to talk to,” said Hemdev’s son, recalling the moment. In today’s @TOIMumbai, we (@manthanmTOI & me) study data across Metro line 3 to point out which has been the busiest stretch and as expected nearly nearly 60,000 of the average 1.80 lakhs are seen travelling specifically on the CSMT-Cuffe Parade section. Senior traffic officers we spoke to say this surge is already reducing reliance on taxis and BEST buses, which once used to dominate the city’s southernmost end.

The Vehicular Underpass (VUP) a part of the Coastal road project near the Bandra Worli sea link has been opened yesterday. The underpass which goes below the existing Abdul Gaffar Khan road connects JK Kapoor Chowk—handling traffic from Prabhadevi, Dadar, to the Mumbai Coastal Road. Once the cut-and-cover work is finished, traffic is split into two directions: one towards Bandra and the other onto the southbound Coastal Road.
