Can anyone explain why Iranians are trying to get into Britain’s most sensitive nuclear installation? And whether there comes a time when we realise allowing thousands of young men from Iran into Britain on small boats might be a threat to our security?

So disgraced narcissist @NicolaSturgeon slithers off into well deserved obscurity. But not without a final attempt to hoodwink the public about her motives and legacy. Scotland knows better..............

The US is energy independent. It can do whatever it wants
Europe sacrificed its economy, relevance, and foremost geopolitical security at the altar of the green religion.
It will get really nasty now. Don't blame Trump, you did it to yourself. Blame your left-green politicians.

Dodgy Dave Doogan's at it again with the SNP's favourite tax spin.
The tweet (posted yesterday) says:
> 🏴 A reminder that 55% of Scots pay less tax than people in the rest of the UK.
> 🔊👇 Those who pay slightly more benefit from a far better social contract:
The tax bit: technically true, but tiny and selective
For the **2026-27 tax year**, the Scottish Government raised thresholds on the starter and basic rates. Official line (Scottish Fiscal Commission + Finance Secretary Shona Robison):
➡️Anyone earning under around £33,500 (about 55% of Scottish taxpayers) pays slightly less income tax than they would in England/Wales/NI.
- Savings: often 50p–£1 per week (£26–£52 a year for many). Not exactly life-changing.
The other 45% (middle and higher earners) pay more — sometimes hundreds or thousands extra — because Scotland's higher-rate threshold kicks in earlier (£43,663 vs £50,270 rUK) and the intermediate band is 21%. That's how they raise an extra £600m+ in income tax overall.
Only income tax diverges. NI, VAT, council tax, etc. are the same across the UK.
The "far better social contract" bit?
This is where it gets properly dodgy. Scotland does get higher public spending per head (thanks to the Barnett formula + the extra tax from higher earners), and things like free prescriptions and university tuition are nice. But "far better"?
Public services have been under the SNP for 18+ years. NHS waiting times, drug deaths (highest in Europe), ferries, education outcomes, and record-high taxes aren't exactly delivering utopia. The "social contract" line is pure political fluff — it's just progressive taxation with extra complexity.
Classic SNP move: big up the tiny win for the majority while glossing over the pain for everyone else and the patchy results. You've seen this script before. Same as it ever was.
