Celebrating the 99th anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army at the Chinese Embassy in Kenya, Ambassador H.E Guo Haiyan and Defence Attaché Senior Col. Zhao Peng warmly welcomed our esteemed guests, highlighted the strong bond between China and Kenya.

Presided over by Hon. FCPA John Mbadi, Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning, we attended the launch of the FY2027/28 Medium-Term Budget Preparation Process at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Nairobi. The exercise marks the beginning of preparations for the final full-year budget under the Fourth Medium-Term Plan (MTP IV), bringing together government agencies, development partners and other stakeholders to align planning, budgeting and implementation with national development priorities. The process provides an important platform for setting budget priorities, ensuring that public resources are directed towards programmes that advance the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), deliver measurable results and improve the lives and livelihoods of Kenyans.

At the invitation of Beijing Normal University’s Affiliated high school, it was my sincere pleasure to give a keynote address to 200 young students from various high schools nationwide, this mornin. They invited me to share experiences as a young woman in STEM and give insights on navigating the technical aspects of education as they aspire to pursue their undergraduate studies in reputable institutions, globally. The theme of the keynote was “Passing the torch” and I encouraged them to be a generation that embraces various cultural backgrounds and diverse perspectives as they forge ahead. More importantly, I conveyed the congratulatory message of H.E Willy Bett and emphasized that this year’s #FOCAC theme of People-to-People exchanges envisions increased cooperation and Bilateral interactions. We encouraged our young Kenyans and Chinese to deepen friendship ties as we promote cultural exchanges and collaborations for mutual learning and knowledge sharing 💪🏾💪🏾 #VijanaNaSkills

Kenya 🇰🇪 has been at the forefront in pushing for Reforms, particularly in the restructuring of the Global Finance Architecture and my remarks in the FOCAC round table was on exploring much needed innovative financing to drive the emerging industries in Energy & Climate Change for sustainable development. 🇪🇬 Egypt’s Alexandria–Abou Qir Metro Line Extension has received USD420,000 in MCDF grant support for preparatory activities linked to the upgrade and electrification of the existing east-west rail corridor between Abou Qir Station and Misr Station. The project is expected to convert the corridor into a high-capacity, low-carbon metro system, strengthening connectivity between Alexandria’s urban core, port area, logistics infrastructure, industrial zones and future airport links.
