Good to hear the Loan Charge scandal eventually getting government attention. However, this will be of little comfort to those who lost so much as a result of the HMRC’s punishing intransigence that sadly led to some choosing to take their own lives. #Budget2026

2/2 Only received APN pens as disclosed on my tax return so are HMRC encouraging non-compliance as well as placing an extra charge on the same disputed tax? Sending all separately is tantamount to bullying and aimed to create max stress. Out of control. #loancharge @gregwrightYP

1/2 My morning post from HMRC....13 demands for interest on APN penalties. 7 of these already paid (including 2 paid in 2016). HMRC refused payment on 1. The other 5 on years already agreed settlement (2 based off wrong amounts) #loancharge #loanchargescandal @gregwrightYP

Well quite. Indeed I only left HMRC in 2015 and I know for absolute fact they had contractors under loan schemes working for them at that time. They quickly laid them off around then but the truth is v much out there.

HMRC were even an end client of mine (and knew what was going on). For them to suggest they were always clear is a travesty. The way parliament has responded is even worse
