So excited! Our new venture @wecounteract. The climate crisis is THE challenge of our times. As entrepreneurs we felt compelled to respond. We think we can make a big difference. If not we'll have done our best trying. #ClimateAction #CarbonRemoval twitter.com/wecounteract/s…

@2DoisToby @Oliver_Geden @fionaharvey 2/ @Oliver_Geden has clearly stated he felt her article was misleading. Does it matter if a notable environment correspondent writes something read by many that a leading climate scientist with intimate knowledge of the subject and source says is misleading?

@2DoisToby @Oliver_Geden @fionaharvey 1/ "These people" "moaning" includes one of the lead IPCC contributors to the IPCC report her article refers to. If she is going to write an article referring to an IPCC report wouldn't you want her to talk to the authors? Isn't that what journalism is for?

Just been watching @EOY_UK awards ceremony. Having chaired London & SE judges I know it was super tough as ever. Massive congrats @BenFrancis1992 @Gymshark 2020 #Entrepreneur of the Year. So deserved. An absolutely incredible story. An inspiration to future generations.

@jburnmurdoch @gpollara Mentions vs underlying cause clearly an important distinction. A definitive analytical methodology on that is tricky but the one you linked to before, which you used, seems sound. Would love to see your analysis backdated to Mar-May peak overlaid on the total excess death chart..

@MattIsaacs @gpollara And they have plenty of nonsensical but ready-made pushbacks along the lines of "Oh but that's just mentions, not underlying cause. Could have died in a car accident" so important to use underlying cause here

Micro-thread: Regrettably, a lot of Covid-denialists appear to have been taught that this PHE chart shows that deaths from respiratory infections are still below normal levels. One problem: this is deaths from ARIs *where Covid-19 was not the underlying cause of death*.

@MattIsaacs @gpollara That's showing something different, and on its own doesn't (technically) refute their claim. If setting out to refute a chart-based claim, I think it's important to use the exact same chart to debunk it, otherwise they'll just point to their chart again.

@Stuartq @klmr @jburnmurdoch This one from PHE is - in my view - a more useful one (Total Excess Deaths instead of only those attributed to ARI in PHEs analysis which look odd/potentially flawed to me)

So deserved @justinbasini. You were so close in 2017. The progress since then is incredible. So great you came back to @EOY_UK for another shot. Perseverance clearly one of your many qualities.

Chairing judging in 2020 so different to 2019 - yet some things the same: the rigour of the @EOY_UK process, an unbelievably high bar, incredible nominated entrepreneurs, super qualified judges and animated debate. Congratulations to all. Bravo @JoannaSantinon and team

Have you wondered how to spot a genuine purpose-driven business? If a company is purpose-driven it will be reflected in all that they do. We’ve written a report all about this here: bit.ly/3hxvUAW
