HILARIOUS: President Trump: “When I’m gone, you’re all going to be broke. Your business model is going to be finished… That’s why tonight, to show how much I care about the press and I want to save your ratings, I am pleased to announce my intention to—and this is somewhat of a scoop—my intention to run for a fourth term as President of the United States… I won 3 times, now I’m going to do it again.” *Puts on ‘Trump 2028 Hat*

As I recalled just yesterday, Bill de Blasio simultaneously lost control of the police department and any credibility he had with the left amid the 2014 Black Lives Matter protests. Zohran Mamdani is a far more adroit politician, but this may prove a problem for him.

I want to ask when those of us who opposed the war on the grounds that it would lead to a long and drawn out quagmire can expect an apology from the many on the right who screamed at us and called us “panicans” and traitors. But I won’t ask that because I know the answer.

I will again say that someone is going to make a fortune writing a book on the parallels between “15 Days to slow the spread” and Trump’s decision to go drop bombs on Iran. Just catastrophic unforced errors when things were going fairly well. Boggles the mind.

I have been briefed on today’s horrifying stabbings on the Upper West Side, where an Asian man and a Jewish man were attacked. According to witness and victim statements, the perpetrator yelled “Allahu Akbar” during both attacks. I am relieved that both victims are in stable condition. The NYPD responded immediately and arrested Raul Morales in connection with both assaults—and I am grateful to the officers for their swift response. The NYPD’s initial investigation suggests that mental health may have been a factor. They are also evaluating these stabbings as potential hate crimes. These hateful and despicable attacks have no place in our city.
Jessica S. Tisch@NYPDPC

This afternoon, two people were stabbed in separate attacks on the Upper West Side. Both victims — an Asian male and a Jewish male — were removed to Mt. Sinai-St. Luke’s Hospital, and both are expected to survive.  The NYPD has arrested 51-year-old Raul Morales in connection with both assaults, and no other people are being sought. Detectives are continuing to work the case and determine motive, but according to victim and witness statements, Morales yelled “Allahu Akbar” during both attacks. The NYPD is currently evaluating whether this is a potential hate crime. While the perpetrator has no known mental health history with the NYPD, the initial investigation suggests that mental health may have been a factor. At this time there is no known link between Morales and either of the victims, nor between the victims and each other. I want to commend the bravery of a good Samaritan who led our officers to the location where the perpetrator was hiding, as well as our NYPD cops who brought an end to the incident without further injuries.

Some stories are both simultaneously ridiculous and revealing and this is one of them. It’s truly ridiculous how long this has gone on. To exert this much effort to protect the fragile ego of the man in the Oval Office is embarrassing for everyone involved. As Marco Rubio himself said once: “years from now, there are many people on the right, in the media and voters at large, who are going to have to explain how they fell into this trap.”

Everyone keeps telling me that the AOC/socialist wing is a flash in the pan. Tell that to New Hampshire Democrats. Yes, these early polls are mostly name recognition. I get that. But they still reveal the early emotional temperature of primary voters. AOC's top placement will make fundraising dramatically easier from here, and fundraising builds its own momentum. There's also a quiet confirmation-bias effect: once polls keep telling voters someone is the frontrunner, more of them start treating that person as viable. Remember, AOC doesn't need to win the nomination to reshape the race. If a "safer" candidate gets the top spot, that nominee will need someone on the ticket who can lock in the enthusiasm on the left. AOC could lose the primary and still end up a heartbeat from the presidency. Who should be sweating this poll: Newsom, who's been running a not-so-secret campaign for two years and still can't crack single digits. Harris — former VP, former nominee, the highest name ID in the field — buried at 5%. That's not a bad poll for her. That's an embarrassing one. Shapiro and Pritzker didn't even register. For two governors quietly building national profiles, that has to sting. This poll is not simply noise. It's the first clear signal of where the energy sits. And another sign to Democratic Party leaders that they dismiss or ignore the DSA at their own peril. At the top of the poll isn't a centrist Democrat — it's a self-described democratic socialist. And DSA-pioneer Bernie's 6% is basically AOC's for the asking if she runs. Keep dismissing the DSA, and the "big tent" won't be a tent anymore — it'll be a takeover.
