Every farmer now has the Right to Repair their own equipment thanks to President Trump. It’s crazy that our talented farmers were being prevented from doing this previously. This announcement is about common sense. Farmers will be able to spend more time in the field and less money in the repair shop because of this important new EPA guidance.

Yesterday, Assistant Administrator for Water Jess Kramer revisited the Potomac Interceptor collapse site and met with officials from FEMA, National Park Service, and DC Water for an update on the repair process. She emphasized that the agency remains ready to support our partners on the ground and is committed to ongoing coordination to ensure the response is done as quickly as possible and protective of public health.

The Potomac Interceptor overflow is a sewage crisis of historic proportion. Never should any American family, community, or waterway ever have to experience this level of extensive environmental damage. This mess must be completely addressed as fast as humanly possible, and the Trump EPA stands ready, motivated, and highly capable to assist in any way possible to fulfill President Trump’s strong desire to END this disaster. Since this crisis began: 1) DC Water has been leading all cleanup and remediation efforts, responsible for containment, monitoring, and recovery operations; and 2) Maryland has been providing regulatory oversight related to water quality standard exceedances in the Potomac related to unauthorized discharges of wastewater. At no point in the lead up to today had DC Water or the state of Maryland requested EPA to take over their responsibilities, and EPA has continued to offer its full support to state and local leaders from the onset. We are ALWAYS ready to lead and assist with our exceptional agency team!!
