Note: I will not be resharing any posts of #JacobBlake being shot. It is (past) time to stop sensationalizing, even in allyship the brutalizations and murders of black bodies. I will however, share my thoughts... #BlackLivesMatter

@RUWomenandWork @LancasterDebra We need to find innovate ways for immigrant women, particularly those who're racialized and newcomers, to not be left behind in the post-COVID economic recovery. Otherwise, building back better will be for some and not for all

@ManduReid @JennSelby @monaeltahawy @Sistah_Space @fdwyer1980 Violence against women and girls is rooted in gender stereotypes & social norms. To end violence against women and girls, we need to address these underlying causes of gender inequality by completely eliminating social norms that enable and perpetuate this structural violence.

@NataliaOllus Harassment takes many forms. It could be verbal, physical, sexual or psychological. Harassment against women is a manifestation of power imbalance resulting from gender inequality. Harassment creates intimidating and repressive environments that are harmful to women and girls.

@CatGrasham @MarinaKorProud @katrinacharles @May_Sule An important question, Catharine. Researching gender-based violence requires careful attention to safety, ethics, power and empowerment. Methodological guidelines in this area have grown in leaps and bounds in the past decade. I'm available to discuss further if you wish.

@sandycheu Funding the care sector is critical. For one reason, to increase female workforce participation and improve employment conditions for workers..Applying a gendered lens to the economy is the only way to properly value the work done by women.

@WHWempower When women are kept from exercising their right to vote because of fear of discrimination and abuse, it's a form of voter suppression. The pandemic means we’re all in closer quarters, meaning abusers have more access and control over their victims.

For survivors, even their right to vote can be jeopardized by an abuser. Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana all have address-confidentiality programs designed to help survivors stay safe while still exercising their right to vote. wcpo.com/news/our-commu…

@AdminKlein @IndigenousAI @nnedv @amprog @strongheartsdv @NCADV Voting is an act of power, which is why abusers often seek to interfere with victims exercising their right to vote. Women seeking to vote have faced retaliation for nearly a century where husbands objected to them exercising their right to vote.

Governments must make mental health support a priority and invest in it - taking the unique needs of women and girls into account.

The job loss stress, economic stress, domestic violence stress, parenting stress, loan stress etc. Therefore a comprehensive approach needs to be undertaken to flatten the curve of mental stress

@jeanneachille COVID-19 is testing families. The increased economic and social stressors brought on by the pandemic - is pushing people to their limits where conflict in the home can escalate to violence against women.

@NeetuGarg6 @narendramodi We're paying so much attention to the pandemic that it's easy to ignore the epidemic. News headlines about women killed, missing or assaulted have become so ubiquitous that they barely register anymore. And that's a huge concern.

A shadow epidemic as violence against women is having "horrifying global surge" in Covid pandemic. PM @narendramodi lead from front and already working for farmers, economy and leading initiatives like #FitIndiaMovement , a awareness required to signal this domestic violence too.
