Patrick Njiru: Japan is on fire, 130 million people are all glued, and tomorrow morning the whole country will be talking about the safari rally. Of all the WRC events, the safari is unique, just like the President said. It is good that he has given it to the private sector so that it can be moved up to the next step level. One of those step levels is to sell merchandise #CitizenSundayLive

Are you excited about the next chapter of Kenya’s railway transformation? Something big is on the horizon. Preparatory activities are already underway for the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) Phase 2B/2C, which will extend the line from Narok to Malaba, bringing Kenya closer to a fully connected modern railway network. This milestone will play a key role in enhancing regional connectivity, facilitating trade and strengthening Kenya’s position as a transport and logistics hub in East Africa. Stay tuned as we prepare to unveil more about this exciting journey.

One deep breath. A final adjustment. The edge right at the tips of your toes. Are you going? Sailing along at sonic speeds like a freely flying squirrel. Does "free as a bird" quite nail the exhilaration of soaring without any boundaries or constraints, other than your skill? Even then, how do you pick your landing spot?

The February rains may seem like an anomaly but it's actually a return to how it once was. There used to be a brief, intense rain halfway between the short rains (Dec) & long rains (April) In Kikuyu, this rain is called magûna ng'ombe which, roughly translated means... [1/2]

The Rironi–Naivasha–Gilgil (A8) and Rironi–Maai Mahiu–Naivasha (A8 South) roads are two strategic branches of Kenya's primary Northern Corridor, both currently undergoing a major upgrade spearheaded by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA). Launched by H.E. @WilliamsRuto in November 2025, the transformative project marks a decisive intervention in one of the country's most vital transport arteries. Originating at Rironi in Kiambu County, the two corridors diverge into separate routes across the Rift Valley, linking Nairobi to Nakuru and onward to Western Kenya. Together spanning 139 kilometres, the project is scheduled for completion by April 2027, with the 81-kilometre Rironi–Gilgil section targeted for delivery by mid-2026. The expansion into a four- to six-lane dual carriageway is designed to ease chronic congestion, drastically reduce travel times and enhance road safety along a corridor long associated with heavy traffic and frequent accidents. Notorious blackspots such as Salgaa and the persistent gridlocks at Rironi are set to be eliminated through modern engineering standards and improved traffic flow management. In addition to improving mobility, the upgrade carries profound economic significance. The corridor traverses high-production agricultural zones. Improved road infrastructure will therefore facilitate faster movement of fresh produce to Nairobi and other markets, cutting post-harvest losses and strengthening farm incomes. During construction, the project has generated thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities, while prioritising the use of locally sourced materials such as sand, gravel and cement to stimulate surrounding economies. Strategically, the enhanced highway will reinforce Kenya's position as a regional logistics hub by improving connectivity to key western transit points such as Eldoret and Malaba, thereby streamlining cargo movement to Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
