The problem is in the term "lifestyle" diseases. Presents a totally wrong picture. If you were to see it as an "occupation created illness", the mental image changes completely. They were fit, got deployed and that 'caused' the illness. Now, appears different, doesn't it, Parliamentary Committee members?

Every tourist place we visited in Meghalaya had clean paid toilets. No one appreciates this more than my wife who always complains about the lack of public toilets wherever we travel in India. So much for the rest of India to learn from the small state of Meghalaya.

Arrogance is, unfortunately, steeped in our DNA and "thank you" and "please" courtesies are for lesser mortals. Our "role models" have feet of clay, what to speak of others. Schools!! Go back to basics and teach our kids to mind their "ps" and "qs"... marks can come later. We are degenerating as a society. Only re-oriented school education can rescue us. #AnguishedCitizen #CitizensAngst #ViksitBharat2047

"Useful", not 'critical'- your words. But operational experience and the rest stated above, while in command, are "Critical". So, no debate on who should be in "Command". Since admin is the 'useful' tool you identified in the 'UPSC exam' variant, place them in admin tasks in respective hqs at whatever level they parachute... not in 'command'... but I am also told UPSC exam qualifies that they will also 'choose' who to serve under and they 'choose' not to serve under 'non- UPSC exam' variants.. so, admin issues turns serious ops issues on its head- classic "Yes, Minister" syndrome of tail wagging the dog. "For want of a nail...." story and the tragedy chugs along... national interest doesn't even count here. #AnguishedCitizen #CitizensAngst #ViksitBharat

@Moochikal @RajKSinghIndia UPSC brings administrative skill sets which is useful for dealing with other departments as well as getting clearance from HR / Finance etc. So they do have uses. But these tasks are facilitating in nature, not the Core jobs. So yes, UPSC candidates may remain in next levels

Politely disagree. The "experience" that IPS officers bring to the table, as per your writing, is the cross-state, cross- authorities "presence" which enables effective coordination. When para military forces are deployed on an internal security mission, the "Op level" experience and knowledge of men under command is far more essential to bring the situation under control- coordination at the levels you write to defend, comes much later. And if that is the only gain accrued by IPS in command, once CAPF officers get to those positions, in time, in greater numbers, this too shall happen. As they dont exist today, higher level coordination happens between IPS officers and so, you find higher effectiveness in coordination. When CAPF officers rise and take up senior level posts, the same will happen even between them and maybe, even better, because they know and comprehend the situation way better. Your arguments dont hold water and are merely to continue the unfair situation- unfair on Operational and HR levels. Transition of command between IN & CG is an excellent example of smooth, unselfish and "nation- first" approach which one expected from an "All India, Group A" cadre.

My piece today in Millennium Post on aligning leadership with the complex realities of India’s internal security. The focus must shift from binaries to building a unified, capable, and strategically sound security framework.

Set, Match and Game- Kerala...❤️... well deserved too.. people matter- citizens decide what kind of state they want and they get it.. citizens of other states, specially North Indian states, have their tasks cut out. Raise your bar of expectations from your elected representatives/parties and do not relent or get distracted by caste/creed/religion B..S.. they try to throw at you. Get your quality of life sorted out, first. Rest all later...@BJP4India @INCIndia @AamAadmiParty @cpimspeak ...#EnlightenedVoter #GodsOwnCountry

@santheepnair @VishnuNDTV Army officers are not supposed to "talk" about force modernisation on 'social media'- only free citizens like you or retired foggies like me, can. Does not mean they are not thinking or doing, force modernisation.

The problem isn't in the BrahMos load out - the ship lacks enough SAMs in my opinion. Just 32 Barak 8s doesn't cut it in the context of evolving drone and missile threats. Sad because the sensor set up is world class.
Mysavvytalk@mysavvytalk

@VishnuNDTV Sorry Vishnu, only 8 brahmos missile wont help much. It is already outdated against Chinese type 54 or 55 destroyers. Please do comparison yourself and tell truth to the public.

Absolutely... fully agree with you... our "mark chasing" education system in schools has collapsed on us and we are paying the price for the same with kids who have lost or have no moorings. We seriously need to review and re-work school experience of our kids lest ae too become a "lost civilization"...#AnguishedCitizen #CitizensAngst #ViksitBharat

INDISCIPLINE has become a serious problem in India. It’s everywhere. Roads, offices, public spaces. Even schools. Was discussing this yesterday night with an established sociologist... He came up with some very good reasoning. The roots of this erosion lie in our schools... Had to agree with him. Studied in KVs across India. Not the top notch kind... but we were taught real life values. Offer seats to elderly people and women in trains/buses. Avoid littering. To keep even a small scrap of paper in our pocket or bag if no dustbin was nearby. Those lessons stayed with us. Shaped our character. Another big influence came from NCC, Scouts & Guides. These activities nurtured leadership, service & self restraint. Unfortunately, such programs have disappeared from many schools today... esp in Bihar where NCC presence is the least. Everything now revolves around academics, rankings & faaltu activities that do little for character building. An IFS friend, posted in Indonesia, said that schools there teach students to greet foreigners (of any skin colour) with a polite Selamat/Hello/Namaste. Indonesian schools embed politeness and hospitality into everyday culture... even towards strangers. Today, Indonesia stands out as one of the world's most tourist friendly countries. I suggested the same to then Principle Secretary of Education Department, Bihar. But who has the time to improve things in a Department that has an annual budget of over Rs 60,000 crores. Paisa kamayein ya samaaj theek karein. Whoever becomes Bihar's new CM... prioritise schools. To build a better Bihar & a better nation - we must first transform its people.

Bro, after spending 6 weeks in China, landed in India. Bro was in pure shock, just a 3 to 4 hour flight and it felt like another planet. Bro explained how China is extremely clean and organized, while India feels chaotic everywhere. Bro said he had never seen so many beggars and homeless people, while in China he could not find even a single beggar. Instead of blaming him, it is high time we introspect how we, as Indians, are being scammed by traditional political parties and less educated politicians. How corruption, infights and religious bigotry as a tool used by Corrupt leaders are derailing us Backward from other nations. If China can change its fortune in just 2 decades, why cannot more capable Indians do the same?
