Extreme dishonesty by the Daily Mail here. Before the conspiratard right has a field day, here's what actually happened. The defense is simply casting doubt that the ballistics test could conclusively match the bullet to Robinson's rifle. This does NOT mean that it couldn't have been fired from the rifle. It just means the bullet was too fragmented to definitively match it to the rifle (according to the defense), something which is extremely common. Unfortunately, social media has created a feedback cycle of engagement bait and confirmation bias. Conspiratards will just read this headline and take it as affirmation of whatever idiotic conspiracy theory they've chosen to believe while those who post this lie will rake in cash off of the engagement. We are living in a post-truth world.

The pro war side can dismiss this all they want. Go ahead. All I can tell you is that I personally know multiple VERY conservative lifelong Republicans voters who are so furious and feel so betrayed that they’re planning to sit out the midterms. I don’t think that’s the right move and don’t encourage it. But this is something I’m hearing pretty often. People are pissed. Maybe that doesn’t show up on this site. Maybe it doesn’t show up yet in the polls. But it’s real. Go talk to people. Actual human people.
