News24 Group donated R8 million to the ANC! News24 will not tell you this in the hit piece they are planning against @afriforum. I place on record that @News24 refused to answer AfriForum’s questions regarding its parent company’s donations of R8 million to the ANC between 2021 and 2025. These questions were aimed at determining whether News24 considers it justifiable for its parent company to fund the ANC while numerous individuals in the ANC leadership have been implicated in corruption. This question was relevant to AfriForum’s ability to respond effectively to News24’s enquiries, as reference is made to donations by one of the parent company’s fellow donors to the ANC, namely Thebe Stockbroking.

I have been found guilty by the Western Cape Legislature’s Conduct Committee for expressing a political opinion. Not for violence. Not for incitement. For political speech. The process? An anonymous complaint. Heavily redacted paperwork. A hearing I was never invited to attend. A guilty finding delivered without the right to be heard. In 2016, at the Cape Town Press Club, Helen Zille said: “If our Constitution has any meaning at all… it means we are all equal citizens before the law… with as much right to articulate an opinion as anyone else… without being shouted down, demonised and silenced… If liberty means anything at all, it means telling people things they don’t want to hear.” I agree. Political speech — especially opposition speech — lies at the heart of Sections 16 and 19 of our Constitution. If a majority party can use internal disciplinary processes to sanction an opposition leader for robust political commentary, then constitutional protection becomes conditional on political convenience. Liberty must apply equally. Otherwise it isn’t liberty at all.

Five months ago Mandelson was UK Ambassador with the full confidence of the PM. Today he is no longer the ambassador, in Labour or a peer. The scandal, sleaze, and speed of his downfall only increases the scrutiny on Starmer and McSweeney’s decision to send him to Washington.

Honourable Members,   Like many other countries, South Africa is facing the prospect of significantly higher tariffs on exports to the US.   The Government is therefore in continued engagement with the United States to secure a mutually-beneficial trade and investment deal.   The Presidency and the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition have sent representatives to the United States who are preparing for further formal negotiations with the US government.   They are meeting a number of stakeholders, including representatives in the administration, legislators, business people and others.   Many other countries are doing the same to secure agreements with the United States government.   The US is South Africa’s second largest trading partner.   Our economic relations are strong and go back many decades.   Trade between our countries has historically been complementary in nature.   We buy many good and services from the US, such as petroleum, aircraft and parts, medical instruments, soya beans, motor vehicles, poultry and pharmaceuticals.   South Africa exports to the US include minerals, agricultural products, pharmaceuticals, motor vehicles and medical isotopes.   South Africa is the biggest investor from the African Continent into the US, with 22 of our companies investing in areas like mining, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and the food chain. More than 600 US companies operate in South Africa.   To advance our negotiation position our Government submitted a mutually beneficial trade and investmentpackage as a basis for negotiations with the US.   This builds on the previous package submitted on 20 May 2025.   In addition to the proposal put to the United States, Cabinet has also endorsed our own country’s Economic Response Package.   This includes measures that we are putting in place to support South African businesses that are affected by the tariffs.   Government has decided that in response to the US position on tariffs, South Africa should take this as an opportunity to diversify our export markets for increased resilience and facilitate the entry into alternative markets for affected exporters.   As part of measures to assist companies to absorb the effects of tariffs and facilitate long-term resilience, the Localisation Support Fund has made a commitment to support affected companies.   We have initiated an Export and Competitiveness Support Programme. This will include working capital, plant and equipment facilities to address short to medium term needs across all industries.   Working with industry, we are accelerating efforts todiversify export markets and enhance competitiveness to mitigate the economic impact of losing preferential trade access.   A crucial part of this work is to make full use of the opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area.   We are also looking at better using the buying power of local consumers, businesses and government to support local producers.   South Africa is responding to the imposition of tariffs by the United States by intensifying its engagement with the US administration on trade and investment.   We are working to stabilise diplomatic relations and we are introducing a range of measures to make South African companies more resilient and more competitive.   #RamaphosaQandA

The @mailandguardian has joined a long list, which include @News24 @TimesLIVE @DailyMaverick @SundayWorld @Newzroom405 made to apologise to @afriforum The media house was found guilty by the Press Ombud of publishing misinformation about AfriForum, claiming that Afriforum has advanced a narrative of white genocide in South Africa. @solidariteit has also sued Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, Minister in the Presidency, for defamation on similar claims. When the very media making claims of misinformation are all being found guilty of spreading misinformation, it is no longer media, but propaganda.

🚨🇹🇳BREAKING: TUNISIA SAYS GRETA THUNBERG'S "BOMBED" GAZA FLOTILLA ACTUALLY HAD CIGARETTE FIRE Tunisia's National Guard has declared claims of a drone attack on Greta Thunberg's Gaza flotilla boat "completely unfounded," saying the fire was caused by a lighter or cigarette butt in a life jacket. Tunisia National Guard (Facebook statement): "Initial investigations show that the fire on board the ship broke out in one of the life jackets as a result of a lighter or cigarette butt... There was no evidence of any hostile act or external targeting" Earlier, Greta Thunberg claimed: "I am currently at the port in Tunisia after one of our boats, carrying humanitarian aid, was bombed" National Guard spokesman Houcem Eddine Jebabli confirmed: "The investigation is ongoing and no drone has been detected" The "Sumud" flotilla had set sail from Barcelona aiming to break Israel's naval blockade of Gaza. The Portuguese-flagged boat's crew reported safe after the incident. Source: Tunisia National Guard/AFP/Reuters

🚨🇵🇸🇹🇳 BREAKING: GRETA THUNBERG CLAIMS GAZA FLOTILLA "BOMBED"... BUT TUNISIA SAYS NO DRONE DETECTED Greta Thunberg and anti-Israel activists claimed their humanitarian flotilla boat was "bombed" by a suspected drone near Tunisia, but Tunisian authorities found no evidence of attack: "I am currently at the port in Tunisia after one of our boats, carrying humanitarian aid, was bombed" Tunisia's National Guard spokesman Houcem Eddine Jebabli told AFP their investigation found: "A fire broke out in the life jackets on board... The investigation is ongoing and no drone has been detected" The "Sumud" flotilla (Arabic for "steadfastness") set sail from Barcelona Sunday aiming to break Israel's naval blockade of Gaza. Activists had claimed Wednesday that drones were hovering above their vessels when they were 170km from Mallorca. Thunberg called it "yet another attack aimed at preventing us from reaching Gaza" and vowed "this will not stop our struggle." The Portuguese-flagged boat's crew and passengers reported safe. This is my favourite thing about politics, how politicians often imply the obvious is actually a mental problem on your part, and it is done with such confidence. “That’s not a tea cup, it’s an orange, what is wrong with you?”
