🆕 A totally irrelevant site has DMCAed Search Engine Land's reporting page about ClickOut Media spamming Google's search results! Weird enough DMCA requested was accepted by Google and now this URL searchengineland.com/report-news-si… from Search Engine Land isn't showing up in search results. DMCA complaint - lumendatabase.org/notices/815475… It was filed by theholycoins .com About of this TheHolyCoins domain 👇 TheHolyCoins is a cryptocurrency news platform that reviews early-stage token presales, IDOs, ICOs, and related projects. -- Also I did some research to figure out if this domain is owned by ClickOut Media but it seems like it isn't.

On Friday, my story (Report: Clickout Media turned news sites into AI gambling hubs) received an entirely false DMCA complaint. So I'm sharing it here since it's deindexed in Google while our legal team sorts this out. searchengineland.com/report-news-si…

The great paid ads pullback of 2026 is here. We surveyed 50 mid-market B2B marketing leaders with Wynter. The data is violent. 72% are actively slashing budgets for paid ads, content syndication, or agencies. This isn't a "hot take." It is a capital flight happening in real time. Where the money is leaving: • 46% cutting paid ads • 40% cutting content syndication • 30% dropping agencies One CMO didn't sugarcoat it: "We're canceling contracts where we can." A marketing director explained why: "Lack of qualified leads, Google and all our typical funnels are bringing in trash." So where is the money going? 1. Events 46% are increasing investment in physical presence. Not webinars but handshakes. One senior director told us: "2025 showed us a clear demand for in-person... we are increasing spend to have a larger presence." 2. Partnerships 44% are moving budget here. The logic is simple: Borrow trust instead of buying impressions. One CMO explained: "Brand visibility through sponsoring influencers... scaling programs that provide solid ROI." 3. AI 62% are investing more in AI/Automation. But not for "innovation" but for survival. One CMO admitted the quiet part: "The expectation from our investment firm is that no one should be adding people because AI is gonna deliver that extra capacity." The takeaway: Leaders are abandoning rented audiences and returning to owned relationships. Paid ads got too expensive. Syndication leads never convert. The only things working are the things you can't fake: real events and trusted partners. This is marketers following the ROI. P.S. If you need to know how your buyers are actually allocating budget, Wynter can get you answers in 48 hours.

I would like to write on SEL to cover what I've been doing for clients on Reddit with viral organic content campaigns and SEO through link building on Reddit. But I guess I'll have to wait another 3 years...

Last week @MrDannyGoodwin picked out his top 5 stories to break in the world "AI" and "search/marketing" over the course of last month. Danny, Rita Cidre, Erich, Casagrande, and I covered what they mean for marketing on a @Semrush webinar, and then Danny summarized it all on Search Engine Land... Check out the coverage of it on Search Engine Land - I think the hard part is not just "seeing" these "new" ideas but accepting them and actually adopting them (and no, I am not talking about GEO... there is life in marketing beyond "GEO") searchengineland.com/marketing-coun…

@edantaylor @jason_kint publishers complaining they can't monetize their sites anymore, and Google complaining display ads are declining - kinda the same thing, unless I am misunderstanding

@gaganghotra_ @iPullRank @sengineland We aren't deleting any news/history in that regard. This cleanup is mostly contributed content (plus some staff content that is non-news) that hasn't gotten any traffic in months/years.

This is a great way for a publication to proactively let you know they are pruning your content while making it clear that you are a valued contributor. Shout-out to @sengineland for not having someone rewrite my articles and taking my name off them without alerting me.

It's official. One of the brilliant minds on the @Similarweb data team has data that indicates that AIO SERPs get 20% fewer clicks. The question is... How should SEOs adapt to this new landscape?
