@yorkshirebloke_ @narindertweets @metpoliceuk @MayorofLondon If she'd bothered to check, she would have seen this is a standard reply but she's got an agenda...
English

@narindertweets @metpoliceuk @MayorofLondon They replied to every account exactly the same including Patrick Christ's and some political and news accounts so hardly a personal reply to Tommy Robinson ! 🙄

English

But its ok for Farage and co to stir up so much racial tension and Islamophobia that a sikh woman was horrifically raped in a religiously and racially motivated attack??
Isn't this double standards?
Metropolitan Police@metpoliceuk
“Apprehending violent and dangerous criminals is a full contact and messy task which may appear shocking to observers with little experience of policing in the real world.” Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley writes to Zack Polanski.
English

@BbbrooksKelly @helen_spirit1 @JamesChiavarini Why is that not true? Do you know how they feel? Are you their heads?
English

@MsMscam46 @helen_spirit1 @JamesChiavarini That they are ´understandably hesitant about leaving (their) front door at night’.
Yeah, not true
English

@BbbrooksKelly @helen_spirit1 @JamesChiavarini He is talking about his experience and that of his patrons and you are just responding by calling him a liar.
English

@helen_spirit1 @JamesChiavarini There’s enough evil and fear in the world without us trying to stoke it unnecessarily

@StayRealrd @elegationvain It is nobody's business but JKR's what she talks about in her social media. She doesn't wait in her house for permission or to be "asked" what to talk about. I don't understand the big fuss about how she refers to HER FRIEND in a private converstation.
English

@MsMscam46 @elegationvain Social media is anything but private. No one asked her to mention that fella. She has done amazing work but this isn't nothing and I'm tired of people acting as if it is, She has contradicted so much of her previous excellent words.
English

@janeclarejones I think we can make a distinction between the importance of the use of pronouns when it comes to public policy and when it comes to personal and private relationships.
English

These two things are not unconnected.
And they are revealing of what the pronoun debate is actually really about, and has always really been about.
Kate@campervanwoman
Just seen this. She’s not only going, she’s speaking from the stage. I’ve not seen any criticism of this, not a peep. But JKR calls a male friend ‘she’ and everyone is up in arms?
English

@StayRealrd @elegationvain How JKR chooses to address her friends in private has no impact on anything other than her personal relationship with said friends. She has more than proven her credentials when it comes to policies that impact women and children.
English

@elegationvain Who said anything about idolising her? We don't like seeing our children's favourite author saying that she tells damaging lies just to protect a pathetic male ego, you stupid woman. Especially as that kind of lie leads to children being butchered and women being raped.
English

@bindelj I don't understand the furore. I can reconcile JKR fight over the design of policies that harm women and her personal decision to refer to a friend trans woman as "she". They are not mutually exclusive as the latter doesn't impact anything other than their personal relationship

@ImmortanZit @DefiantLs Nothing "positive" about being obese though..
English

@DefiantLs My partner teaches her second grade pupils to call them body positive people.
English

@sappholives83 You have a lot here already but I would put suggets another one: Baudolino by Umberto Eco. Eco's Facoult's Pendulum is also great as is The Name of the Rose.
English

Can anyone recommend me a good book either about or set in medieval Europe? Alternate history, non-fiction, and historical fiction are all welcome. I get these obsessions with different historical periods, and right now I’m stuck in the Middle Ages, having already explored WWII, the USSR under Stalin and into the Kruschev thaw, the American Civil War, and the Russian revolution. I know that’s not a long list, but I’ve read fairly exhaustively on each subject over the course of three or four years. I’d appreciate any suggestions, including books written in the medieval period, provided there’s an English translation.
English

@EmilyTesterLD @swklibdems I'm sure you think you are a "nice person" but nice people don't bully those that disagree with their views and this letter, which you've chosen to make public in X, is clearly meant to hurt, exclude and turn others against Ellie. This is typical bully behaviour.
English

@WomenSpeakTas I honestly expected them to call my bluff. Instead, they played straight into my hand & proved the exact point I set out to prove.
Stay tuned.
English

@MsMscam46 @mhdksafa I don’t see anyone attacking Israel. I see Netanyahu murdering defenseless people. Including children. Gaza is constantly hit with bombs. Israel has not been hit since Netanyahu called the ceasefire.
English

As you are busy with joint Israel-US strikes on Iran, Rafah was closed. Gaza's borders are closed indefinitely. Israel cuts Gaza off from world again.
A 'ceasefire' in Gaza that still blocks food and aid isn’t ceasefire.
UN and all NGOs in Gaza urgently need more food, medicine, medical equipment, fuel, tents, personal care every day. We cannot wait.
One million women and girls are starving in Gaza in the cold.
Open the gates. Let aid into Gaza now!

English

@Scummanifestoes @WingsScotland Because the left shifted its focus away from class-based struggles and instead prioritised identity politics and the concerns of minority groups. TRAs embedded themselves firmly and even took over LGB institutions and the institutional hold quickly followed.
English

@shaunking @MarinaPurkiss People like you are what Islamic terrorists call "useful idiots"
English

@Heccles94 @designmom Do you really believe that an operation planned and targeted to the minutiae would really hit a school or is it most likely an Iranian misdirect?
English

@KsXotici8508 @Chishol92148373 In Japan or China you don't get citizenship if both your parents are foreign. Baby get residency rights linked to their parents. No citizenship/passports given by birth.
English

@Chishol92148373 Let's say you, and (for argument's sake) your white English (ancestry from 1066) husband move to Japan, and have a baby, is the baby Japanese because it was born there? Let's say baby Michelle got a Japanese passport but you move back to the UK after 6 months...
English

@fem_mb @frazerblaxland I read this exchange but I think you are both approching the argumeny from different angles

Since Konstantin Kisin has announced to the world that I hate all men because of my 'unresolved personal crap', I would like to clarify that in fact, I do not.
I like men who like women. I don't mean heterosexual men. I mean men who can handle a woman disagreeing with them without their egos being so wounded that they need to rage back abusively.
I mean men who can see that women face unique challenges and threats in this world, without angrily telling us either that we deserve it because feminism or insisting that we're misandrists unless we include men in our fight to overcome those threats.
Men who can support women's struggles without feeling threatened because the attention is not on them.
Men who don't accuse us of having a 'victim mentality' when we say that women have no choice but to view men we do not know as potential dangers.
I like mature, adult men who don't need to patronize women and then accuse us of being 'shrill' or 'screeching' if we object. Men who LIKE women.
A lot of my X mutuals are such men. A lot of the men in my life are, too. My grandfather was the best human who ever lived, man or woman, and I'll fight anyone who disagrees.
What I don't like are immature, emotionally stunted men who throw tantrums and declare that any woman who dares to disagree with their take on issues like male violence against women is a misandrist who hates all men. Men like @KonstantinKisin.
English

@paulinaplazas @amiKozak That's true, but Israel has proven to be stronger than its neighbours and it will survive. They've tried, multiple times to destroy it, but the sooner they realise its strenght and agree to its existence, the sooner they'll all live in peace.
English

@MsMscam46 @amiKozak My point is that some countries DO NOT survive. Yugoslavia existed when I was a kid, not anymore.
English

@paulinaplazas @amiKozak Israel doesn't have imposter syndrome. It has been invaded multiple times and continues to be attacked by its neighbours purely because it exists. No other country has had to fight for its own survival like Israel has.
English

That's such a lie. EVERY COUNTRY fights for their sovereignty, it's not a right. Colombia used to have Venezuela, Ecuador and Panama. China got Tibet back, Russia used to have half of Eastern Europe. Did Prussia and Yugoslavia have NO "right to exists"? Israel just have imposter syndrome amongst sovereign nations... wonder why?
