The things Mombasa will show you… you either laugh or relocate.
Juzi tu, two popular drug dealers Hamidi Juma and Gathogo Maina get arrested pale Mwembe Tayari. Straight to court.
Judge looks at them, sizes them up, then says,
“You two don’t look like career criminals. Let me try something.”
“I’m releasing you for 24 hours. Go back to your maeneo, convince as many people as you can to quit drugs. If you succeed, I drop everything. Come back tomorrow with your numbers.”
You can imagine how fast they left that court.
Next day, they’re back.
Hamidi steps forward, chest slightly out:
“Your Honour, I got 14 people to quit.”
Judge nods. “Not bad. How did you do it?”
Hamidi clears his throat:
“I went straight to Frere Town, Kisauni… found them in their usual base. I drew two circles. One big, one small.”
“Told them… this big one is your brain before drugs… this small one is your brain after drugs.”
Court goes quiet. Judge is impressed. Proper effort.
Then he turns to Gathogo.
“And you?”
Gathogo doesn’t even flinch.
“165 people, sir.”
Court murmurs. Judge leans forward.
“165?! You used the same method?”
Gathogo smiles like a man who has seen things.
“Not exactly.”
“I showed them the small circle… then told them”
“Boys, focus. Look at this carefully.”
Pause.
“This… is your Matako before prison.”
Silence.
Even the court clerk sat up straight. 😅
