💡Golang Tip #82: Enhance Debug Output with %+v and %q Instead of %v and %s. When we're debugging, seeing clearer and more detailed output from your logs can be a huge help. Take a common situation where you're quickly checking the state of a struct with fmt.Println: Here, the output {30 15 5} doesn’t immediately tell us which number refers to Wins, which to Losses, or which to Draws ...Unless you remember the order defined in your struct. But, by using %+v and %#v, which are indeed variants of %v, we can make our output significantly more informative and easier to understand: - %+v is great because it includes the field names right in the output, clearing up any confusion about what each value stands for. - The %#v takes it a step further by showing the complete structure with package and struct type. This is more detail than you might need day-to-day, but it can be super helpful in more complex scenarios > "How about %q?" %q is essentially a shortcut for wrapping strings in quotes, whereas %s simply outputs the string as is. This distinction can be super handy, especially when you're dealing with: - Strings that might be empty - Or include special characters or spaces that aren't immediately visible: Just take a look at the logs generated with each formatting option, notice how much clearer the issues become when using %q? > "But what's the downside?" One thing to keep in mind, though, is that %q doesn't interpret escape characters like \t or \n, which could make the string harder to read. (This may actually be quite useful, as it shows you exactly what's in the string, preserving any special characters as they are.) #golang
