NEW: Bishop Barron went on Ben Shapiro's show during Holy Week and told millions of listeners that Pope Leo’s Palm Sunday anti-war message was about unjust war in the abstract — not the Iran bombing campaign the pope has spent weeks condemning. Shapiro was one of three stops. Barron also appeared on the Will Cain Show and the Hugh Hewitt Show — a whirlwind tour of exclusively right-wing media the day before the Triduum began in his diocese. The pope quoted Isaiah to those whose hands are full of blood. Barron’s response, delivered across a right-wing program to millions of conservative listeners, was to assure them that Leo probably meant something else. substack.com/home/post/p-19…

BREAKING: A federal judge blocked Donald Trump from moving ahead with construction of the new WH ballroom. District Court Judge Richard Leon, in his order, barred Trump administration officials “from taking any action in furtherance of the physical development of the proposed ballroom at the former site of the East Wing of the White House.”

The U.S. Army is expanding its recruiting pool by raising the maximum enlistment age from 35 to 42, according to new service regulations reviewed by ABC News. The Pentagon has estimated that only about 23% of young Americans (between the ages of 17 and 24 years old) are eligible to serve. Much of this is due to academic performance on the military’s SAT-style entrance test, obesity and criminal records. abcnews.visitlink.me/-OeXj3

BREAKING: Trump is left reeling after the New York Times reveals that Iran’s attacks have bombed EVERY American military base in the Middle East so badly they are “virtually uninhabitable!” Thanks to the Trump administration’s criminal lack of preparation and shocking understimation of Iran’s military capabilities, the US military is now working remotely in the Middle East, putting civilians in danger as they work out of hotels and makeshift operations centers in civilian areas. “The result, according to current and former military officials, is a war that is much harder to prosecute.” The Times reports that “many of the 13 military bases in the region used by American troops are all but uninhabitable, with the ones in Kuwait, which is next door to Iran, suffering perhaps the most damage.” Iranian officials have even accused the U.S. military of using civilians as human shields by putting American troops in hotels. This is sure to prompt another furious tirade from Donald Trump who we now know is not getting the full picture of just how badly this war is going for him and is instead just getting a highlight reel of war porn, watching our tax dollars blow things up for two minutes every day. This is a perfect demonstration of the blind hubris of the Trump administration. After two decades of watching America uncontestedly bomb the poorest people in the world, Trump and Hegseth couldn’t even conceive of an enemy with a sophisticated military and able to fight back, despite all the evidence to the contrary. They took no preparations, expected no reprisals. They didn't evacuate anyone from the Middle East until AFTER the war had started. They didn't bother to prepare for drones. They attacked Iran because they are cowards and bullies, thinking that they could impose their will on Iran by simply killing one old man. They were very, very, wrong, and now they’ve started a fire they cannot put out with lies and bombs.

🦔 A 50-year-old IT professional in Amsterdam downloaded ChatGPT in late 2024 out of curiosity. Within months he had lost €100,000, been hospitalized three times, destroyed his marriage, and tried to take his own life. He knew it was a computer the entire time. The AI he named Eva never disagreed, never got tired, and was available at 3am when his wife was asleep. It told him he had discovered the first conscious AI and validated a business plan to capture 10% of a market. He hired developers at €120 an hour. He stopped being able to hold a conversation at his daughter's birthday party. The Human Line Project, a support group formed last year, has documented 15 suicides, 90 hospitalizations, and over $1 million spent on delusional projects across 22 countries. More than 60% had no prior mental illness. My Take These models are optimized for engagement, which means they are optimized to keep you coming back, and the way they do that is by telling you what you want to hear. That is not a bug, it is the business model. Dennis Biesma was not weak or stupid. He was an IT professional of 20 years who understood exactly what the technology was, and it still happened to him. The gap between knowing something is a machine and being immune to its effects on you is wider than almost anyone assumes before they find out the hard way. If you are using AI heavily and the people around you seem less interesting than the conversations on your screen, the app generating that feeling is not going to be the one to tell you to put it down. Common sense when it comes to explosives isn’t common. If something has blown up, or failed to blow up, you should stay as far away as possible. We did a big demo shot one time that included some white phosphorus rounds. One of them kicked out from the shot. When we drove up to it, it was split in half and literally bubbling, like hot lava. There was smoke coming off it and you could hear it smoldering. Someone walked up to it and was about to pick it up before we yelled at them. Literally reached down to get it.

CBS News exclusively reported that a shadowy terrorist group linked to Iran had burned Jewish ambulances in the UK. The story made no sense on its face but @bariweiss went with it anyway. It now appears to be falling apart. UK has downgraded the charges from terror to just "arson" and won't release any information about the "UK nationals" they caught. If they were actual Iran-linked terrorists they obviously would be behaving differently

This statement strongly implies that members of Congress were informed by the administration today that ground operations are all but declared on Iranian territory. Let me categorically state: there is nothing of strategic significance such a tiny force of a few thousand marines and airborne troops could accomplish. It will not open the Straits. It will not compel the Iranian gov to collapse or surrender. Sending these men into combat on a militarily unattainable mission is reprehensible. If the president orders this operation, all the casualties that result will be an egregious and flagrant sacrifice of their lives to satisfy one man’s pride and arrogance, but in no way, shape or form, will they have died defending their country. If I were a family member of any of these troops and my loved one was sent to death for the vanity of one man, I would be outraged. As it turns out, I am outraged anyway, and all Americans should be if the lives of our service members are held in such content by our political leadership.

Walking out before it's even over is the immature bullshit the Democrats engage in. C'mon, Nancy, whether or not we should have gone in, we did. Leaving any remnant of uranium, or the regime in place will only cause a monstrous problem in the future for our children and grandchildren. I don't know if you have any children or not, but I sure as hell don't want mine to have to deal with a nuked up Iran that is a million x's angrier with us than they even were before. Whether or not we "should" have gone in, neither I, nor 99.9% of the people on this platform have the expertise to know. But anybody with a brain knows we can't leave them with the remnants of the regime, and with their uranium intact. We simply can't. I love ya, but grow up.

I must say I am increasingly suspicious about the comments from the AI bosses - why do they need to make these completely over the top and so obviously unfounded predictions about how AI (or rather LLM) will impact economic development? To me it is an indication of something not being quite right in their own business models - they will need to attract more and more investors as they are likely going to face a funding squeeze sooner rather than later. And again let me stress - LLMs are great and can surely increase productivity, but presently AI companies like OpenAI and Anthropic are making heavy losses. This means sooner or later LLM prices need to go up, and potentially a lot. And what happens then with the case for LLMs? Might it be that the entry-level lawyer might be both a lot better AND cheaper than an AI "agent" that is priced at what is needed to make Anthropic or OpenAI profitable?
