@darkkknightwade Tried again to get it matched up as close as I could. PS5 Pro clearly blows it out the water. Both captured on Fidelity mode with VRR on

@Kenneth03156818 @ManaByte It goes From Physical mask to either a CG one, or it's blending between the suit that has to mask to the one that does have the mask, also it's going to have some CG on it at least around the eye area to keep the moving eyes like previous films.

@Crusader3456 Like the lower images of Grace are from a cutscene, it looks more natural cause the game has cutscene lighting there, but the upper images are gameplay & in-game Grace doesn't have cutscene lighting, she has base world lighting & DLSS 5 is giving her studio supermodel lighting.

@Crusader3456 My problem is it looks like when it "enhances" lighting on the faces to make them look photorealistic it's like the Neural Renderer was trained on supermodels & studio lighting for photoshoots & that works in cutscenes cause they have directed cutscene lights but not in-gameplay.

This is it. This is the best example of why DLSS 5 looks bad using a real world person as an example. It isn't making things look more realistic. Its adding lights randomly and making every texture look super relective.

Hmm this is so misunderstood. But I'm also genuinly curious who this update is for other than execs that insist AI needs to be cramped into literally everything. Realism is the culmination of many things if that's the goal, not just the character. Its everything around them, it's their animation, it's the envrionments their interactions with NPCs. And in some twisted way this completely shits on the work of the artists that poured their souls into these games..

Game developers like Capcom are going to be very unhappy. This isn’t a lighting engine you’re literally changing artistic intent with AI slop… that’s just not going to go down well

@gkgftzb @compusemble It's a fact in VFX work that you can have the highest quality assets possible like Thanos in Avengers or the Na'vi in Avatar Fire & Ash, but if your lighting looks off to what lighting looks like in real life & you're trying to achieve photorealism then it will always look fake.

@compusemble If the lighting is so wildly different it makes it look like a different character, then I don't care if it's technically more advanced, it looks WORSE. Also making female characters look like supermodels and those "hot" edits. Really disagree with you on this one

@linker44 @KaineRich2555 @beyond_fps Because what's shown right now is apparently NVIDIA's base for DLSS 5's Neural rendering, and they put the games in here and turned DLSS5 on with its base settings, it supposedly hasn't been tweaked by the developers yet to light the games the way they want it.

All these DLSS 5 screens look the same. Increased brightness, contrast, saturation, lower color temperature. No matter what game you play now it all looks the same.
