If the Corps would teach actual history it would be better. According to them, they did the whole operation in Belleau Wood, that they alone were called teufel honden by the Germans. Fact is, they were a brigade element of the AEF Second Division. Yes, they were there but they weren’t the only ones there. They also tell it the they alone did the island hopping campaign in the Pacific in WWII. Most of the islands were taken by Army troops.
Not that many years ago, they had to apologize to the Army for misrepresenting the Chosin Reservoir in Korea. They had claimed that the Army retreat was out of cowardice and the Corps had to save them. The facts didn’t bear that out. The Army was overwhelmed by vastly superior Chinese forces and the Army had to fight their way back.
