@gdrarr Thank you for the insightful and timely feature of the commentary on your show. 🇪🇷 Watch here 👇

The US Embassy in Asmara has confirmed that the Trump administration is willing to expand Eritrean-American relations, as the Wall Street Journal reported that the #USA is considering lifting sanctions on #Eritrea and improving ties with the country. 🇪🇷🇺🇸

Joint US-Eritrean Oil and Gas Exploration As the United States seeks to repair and strengthen ties with Eritrea and lift the illegal sanctions imposed on Eritrea, #America and #Eritrea could launch joint offshore oil and gas exploration projects. Eritrea possesses significant but largely unexplored oil and gas reserves. Amid the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Eritrea could emerge as a reliable alternative supplier of oil and gas to global markets, thanks to its huge untapped hydrocarbon resources. A US-Eritrean partnership would open these promising reserves to modern exploration and development, benefiting both nations through energy security, economic growth, and strategic cooperation. In the 1960s and 1970s, Western energy companies conducted explorations and achieved promising results. Eritrea should now invite international energy companies — particularly from the United States, Europe, or China — to drill using modern 3D seismic surveys and deepwater wells. During the 1960s–70s, companies such as Chevron, Elf Aquitaine, Total, Exxon, and Mobil recorded encouraging findings, including: •South Buri-1: Real oil was recovered during testing. •Danakil-1: Gas flares and traces of light oil. •Amber-1: Oil and gas shows. However, the war of independence halted further drilling. By partnering with American and other international energy firms, Eritrea can enhance its energy security, generate substantial wealth, and position itself as a reliable regional energy provider. Its strategic location on the Red Sea offers excellent export potential. Eritrea’s maritime territory is relatively safe and stable for offshore operations, supported by two deep-water ports and an existing oil refinery in Assab. Situated at the heart of global Red Sea shipping routes, Eritrea is well-placed to become a key player in international energy trade. This collaboration would mark a major step in improving Eritrea-America relations while delivering mutual economic and strategic benefits. @USEmbassyAddis @StateDept_NEA @AsstSecStateAF @_hudsonc

Africa’s energy challenge isn’t just about resources—it’s about alignment. A new insight from the African Energy Chamber underscores how fragmented policymaking across ministries, regulators and institutions continues to slow project delivery and deter investment. Inconsistent policies, regulatory uncertainty and bureaucratic delays are still driving away the very capital the continent needs to scale its energy sector. The message is clear: without stronger institutional coordination, Africa risks undermining its own energy ambitions. A unified approach—where governments, regulators and industry stakeholders move in sync—is essential to accelerate development, unlock financing and turn strategy into execution. Africa has the resources. Now it needs alignment to fully realize its energy potential. Why is 🇪🇷 not on the below list? It is the most critical natural resource Eritrea possess. FACT 💯: In 1969, Mobil experienced a significant gas blowout at the C-1 exploration well in the Eritrean Red Sea. The well, located offshore, flowed uncontrollably for 55 to 60 days. IMPACT 💥: The incident was a major event in early Eritrean offshore exploration, proving the presence of hydrocarbons, specifically gas. CONTEXT 🎯: The C-1 blowout, along with other findings, identified a large salt basin with potential for both oil and gas in the area.

🌍 AFRICA IS THE NEXT ENERGY BATTLEFIELD This map shows where the next barrels come from. • Nigeria → crude + refined products • Angola → deepwater oil • Namibia → next frontier basin • Algeria → gas to Europe From Middle East chokepoints ➡️ To Africa • Fewer geopolitical bottlenecks • Shorter routes to Europe • Massive untapped reserves The market is repricing geography risk And Africa is being pulled into the center of the system.
