I’m usually a strong tipper. I respect the work and understand how tough restaurant jobs can be—but tipping is still tied to service.
Tonight started off rough. I walked in, waited at a “please wait to be seated” sign, and got no acknowledgment. Eventually, I had to ask if they were even seating people. I got seated, ordered, food came out, and yes—the server checked in.
But when it came time to leave, everything fell apart.
I had cash ready—a $20 and a $10—and planned to ask for $5 back, leaving about a $7 tip on an $18 tab. I know I’m a one-top, so I try to tip a little extra to make up for it.
The check gets dropped… and then nothing. No follow-up, no effort to close it out. I’m just sitting there, clearly ready to pay and leave. At a certain point, I’m not going to wait indefinitely just to hand someone a bigger tip.
Total was $18.36. I left $20 and walked out.
That’s not about being cheap—it’s about not being stuck waiting just to pay. If it takes longer to close out than it did to eat, something’s off.
Take care of your customers, and they’ll take care of you.

@Mr_Husky1 You could have asked the bartender to break a ten n left the money on the table. Your reasoning for leaving a 2 dollar tip isn’t holding water
English

@Mr_Husky1 My ‘Post of the Day’. Well done you for speaking out regarding shoddy service.
English

@putey_pute You should reduce the tip by 2% every time that happens.
English

@SimonMcCoyTV They’ll be texting too, I’ve seen it happen all too often.

@DesireeAmerica4 Everyone should stop going for just one week, and the same week at that. The franchisees will have a nervous breakdown.

We complain about corporate greed, but we completely refuse to give up our instant gratification.
McDonald's just reported a massive $26.9 BILLION in revenue for last year. Their profits are actually going UP.
They aren't struggling, they are printing money because we keep proving we are completely addicted to their junk, no matter what they charge.
We all want prices to drop, but as a society, we have completely lost the discipline to draw a line in the sand and walk away.
Why would these corporations ever lower their prices when we keep willingly handing them our money?
English

@DesireeAmerica4 He suffered from an actual effect where people who are hexed or who deliberately overdose on placebos (when they assume they’re on real medication) think they’re really dying so their body reacts in a way to make them die (drop in BP, heat issues).
In his case he was just dyeing.

A man woke up suffocating and bright blue. He was rushed to the ER and put on oxygen, completely convinced his organs were failing.
The actual diagnosis? Toxic dye from a brand new, unwashed set of navy bedsheets.
Now the timeline is completely split: Is this an easy multi-million dollar lawsuit against the manufacturer, or is this 100% his own fault for not washing his sheets first?

@bo66ie29 Looks like someone went to Benidorm, saw the hotel aircon units on the outsides of the hotels and thought “I HAVE TO HAVE THOSE AT HOME”.
Gets rid of the smell of weed I imagine…
English

@difficultpatty How? I gots ta know (sorry that I’ve started using that phrase, but after having seen Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry decades ago I’ve been using that phrase (is it 5 or 6 bullets I fired…) 😂).
English

@TraderCobb You can argue that she was still restrained by the lap part, but for some reason she was in pain (Abscess? Sunburn?) on the shoulder where the belt crosses over. Lie. Everyone else does.

I just got a fine in the post because my teenage daughter had the seatbelt under her arm.

It's not a fine that she wasn't wearing her seatbelt, it's that she didn't wear it right.
Just a camera sitting there to watch our every move and raise revenue for the government.
It was probably during the time we were singing John Farnhams "2 strong hearts". We love that song, we sing it loud and proud, until the part about the river to the wet large section of water that connects continents.
We would never sing that part government, because that's banned too.
$2115 for this. Honestl7

@absolutelyamyyy Blue jeans will do the same, even after a couple of washes.

Who doesn’t wash new bed sheets before using them?!?
Morbid Knowledge@MorbidKnowledge
A 42-year-old man in Derbyshire named Tommy Lynch woke up to find his skin had turned bright blue. He was rushed to hospital and put on oxygen. A doctor wiped his arm with an alcohol swab, the cotton immediately turned blue. The colour wasn't a medical condition at all, but dye from a new set of unwashed navy bedsheets he'd been sleeping on for two nights.

@BasilTheGreat The bag would have melted by the time she got home
English

@ratemyplatenow If that’s what Danny likes then it’s good enough.
English

@fesshole Exactly, and that’s just in the first 10 miles. So imagine how abused a used car is. Never understood how someone can stomach owning a used car with a drivers’ seat that’s absorbed 100 farts from the previous owner 🤢
