This is bullshit, and it’s a perfect example of why I’m really not feeling X. Everything is scripted engagement farming. The entire platform revolves around blue checks jerking each other off with disingenuous questions, trying to shake an extra buck out of each other. Back in the day, it used to be just a select group of insufferable people that considered themselves “influencers”. Now because of verification and monetization, it’s fucking everybody! Now everyone thinks they’re a damn influencer! Which has resulted in people speaking like publicists, putting out poll-tested thoughts. It’s worse than an echo chamber — it’s an intellectual assembly line. This platform feels very manipulative. Every person I scroll past, I feel like they’re trying to sell themselves to me. People posting their engagement numbers and how much money it made them AS IF THAT’S A GOOD THING!!! And thus saying whatever will bring in more numbers. I guess that’s all social media in a sense, but it’s really taken it to a new level here. There’s something very dystopian feeling about how phony and performative most people have become. People selling their souls for 30 bucks in ad revenue is crazy to me! I just can’t bring myself to recite empty platitudes straight out of 2016, punctuated with a “Do you agree?” or “What do you notice?”. I’m not basing what I say on how much money it makes me. And I’m DEFINITELY not setting my account to verified-only! I am not better than anyone and I am definitely not locking responses to only a certain “elite” class of people. It’s amazing that the most popular ticket in American history is considering stepping down both candidates for someone new months before the next election. I mean when you get more votes than any other ticket in the history of America it would be kind of hard to start over 4 years later. If only there was a logical explanation as to how this is even possible. We all know that the election was the safest in history because the people who won told us that so it’s got to be something else. I’m guessing whoever steps in next will get the most votes ever even more with zero campaign because that is entirely possible.
