@bri_guy_ny COVID - as horrifying as it was here in the City - did a huge solid for Brooklyn, and I suspect Queens as well. The shutdown, and related work-from-home edicts brought local neighborhoods to daytime life. I have absolutely no reason to go into the City anymore.

When New York City‘s housing market suffered for a little bit because of a once in a lifetime global pandemic, we were subjected to stories about how New York was dead every single day. But now that NY is thriving and FL and TX are collapsing? Not a peep.

I have missed many flights due to my own fault but today was not one of them. Got to JFK T5 priority line 74 minutes before 6:59am domestic flight. Probably the earliest I’ve ever got to the airport because people said “there’s a line” and I said “ok I’ll get there early.” Priority line was two hours wait. So now I am … early … for the next flight … at 10.

The result is predictable: – groupthink gets reinforced – weak or irreproducible findings persist for years – dissent is disincentivized – hype substitutes for validation In many cases, the goal is not to rigorously test whether an idea is correct, it’s to create enough mystique that it feels important. That perception alone can carry a company surprisingly far. So it’s not surprising to see the same voices recycled across boards and advisory roles—people who helped build and legitimize this model in the first place.

@Nfcanavan The best book to start with on this subject is @davidasinclair 's Lifespan. If we are to follow your logic, we should offer mandatory euthanasia, after retirement age. Limiting technological advancement will kill our species only exponential technology can save us.

It looks like I made many very good people very rich while doing what I love - fighting aging. I hope that they will spend their wealth fighting aging. Aging is the only enemy everyone of us will face and submit to one day. Let's give it a good fight.

Observation. Brazilians are, on average, the fittest people I've seen in my travels across 35 countries. Very low proportions of overweight or underweight people. Lots of physical activity. Number of people running in Rio at all hours is very high.

I seriously need some help here. My neighbor just put up this massive metal fence right along our property line and I’m honestly pretty upset about it. It completely changed the whole feel of my driveway and now it looks like I’m pulling into some kind of industrial corridor. I had no idea this was even happening until the thing was already built. It feels like my space just got boxed in overnight. What on earth can I do in a situation like this???
