Every day, Satan tells you the lie that only you could love you. Don't believe it. You are loved. Fully, wholly, completely, always. You. Are. Loved.

@conor64 @KelleyKga @politicalmath @CorieWhalen That's awesome. Hopefully you got a good sense of why so many of us who used to have a lot of trust in institutions like the CDC and NIH no longer hold them in high regard. I think many of us wish that those institutions could earn back some of that trust.

I wonder if @conor64 actually read some of the serious and honest replies to his question, like the ones by @KelleyKga, @politicalmath, and @CorieWhalen. I'm sure there were a lot of trolls to filter out, but if he's genuinely looking for the answer, it's there.

A question for everyone: survey data suggests that by the end of the Covid-19 emergency trust in public health institutions had decreased significantly. If you are among the people who reacted that way, why specifically? I'm hoping for long, diverse, individualized answers.

Tried out @ChefGruel's chicken thighs, sausage, and red rice recipe tonight for dinner. Unsurprisingly it was delicious.

@AllbrightNFL I mean it's one way to make the current refs look good. We saw last time how well the replacements did, and it was ugly.

@girlmeetsNG @realjenx We don't take offense at all when you say something that's obviously correct. The expression "If it's crazy but it works, then it's not crazy" makes perfect sense around here.

突然アメリカ人に日本語のツイートが読まれるようになり、アメリカ人のこと「バカ(だけど天才)」とか書いてマズい怒られる…と思ったら"Americans are idiots but also geniuses"に対しperfect、so true、the best description of Americans、That is a fair description of us等のコメントが並び最高

@NickInNC I also thought it wasn't "too bad" until I tried to teach it to undergrads.

Correct! Time dilation is the phenomenon that explains how the Hail Mary spaceship travels to to the star, Tau Ceti (12 light-years away), in only four years for the main character. I'm not going to even try to explain how this works here - relativity is notoriously difficult to explain. But here's a good video to help you visualize the concept of time dilation - with one caveat. What this video explains works to about our nearest galactic neighbors and then we hit the brick wall that is the expansion of the universe, which permanently moves the vast majority of the universe out of reach. youtu.be/8FT-oz9aZU4

POP QUIZ! In Project Hail Mary, Ryland Grace is able to reach the star Tau Ceti, which is 12 light-years away, in about 4 years (ship time), due to which phenomenon? If you don't know, just guess. I'll give the answer tomorrow.

How about fixing the algorithm so that longtime users with small to medium size followings who don't spam the app constantly but just post every few days get some visibility? I don't need podcasts. I would like for my followers to actually see my tweets.

If you’re treating Posobiec’s views as actual views worth discussing and refuting, he’s winning. Nothing he says is worth even talking about.

@TheMiddleborne I think that would be very popular for a small group of people. But the general public would rather just pay to have someone else fix things. That may change over time with electric cars replacing IC in urban areas, and IC more popular in rural where DIY is essential.

Honestly I feel like someone could engineer a car and parts that are put together in a way that makes everything easy to replace and change out like a modular syatem. And before you say “that’s what we had!” i mean something even easier. Like hit the lock pin and the alternator slides out of a special seating and the new one slides back in without needing to worry about wires and hookups The parts would have to be proprietary initially, but 3rd party parts could enter the market and make things increasingly cheaper

Someone needs to make a car company where the engine is made of easily replaceable parts. “But that’s just what we had before 2005!” Yes, yes it is. Someone should do that
