@woodifitweretru @Markzandi Failure to understand the bifurcation occurring on your part, I think. Most working Americans are asset owners, and asset owners are sitting on an enormous pile of equity from appreciation during the inflationary period, as well as dirt-cheap debt. Renters are hurting.

The fixed mortgage rate hit 7% yesterday. Just a few weeks ago, it was flirting with 6% and appeared headed into the 5s. The mortgage rate is up despite the Fed’s decision to cut the federal funds rate by half a percentage point and signal that more cuts are coming. What’s going on? First, the strong economy is even stronger than anticipated, causing investors to re-think how quickly the Fed will cut rates. Equally important is investors’ rising expectation that former President Trump will win re-election (look at betting markets). Investors are taking Trump at his word and believe if he wins it will lead to higher tariffs, immigrant deportations, and deficit -financed tax cuts in a full employment economy, all of which means higher inflation and more government borrowing. The recent surge in mortgage rates is a clear indication what investors believe a Trump victory would mean for the economy and the nation’s fiscal outlook.

@Friended4Ever @christianboutin Why do we all have to blindly accept anything that any publication with a recognizable name says as irrefutable fact? Why do I care what the writers at some rag finance magazine think? Why do you?

My principles are that people are different. That is the power of democracy. People make different moral and economic calculations and we hold elections to tally their conclusions. It’s ironic that so many people accusing me of “having no principles” claim to support democracy when clearly they are more interested in ruling by force, manipulation and intimidation. These are the tools that destroy democracies around the world.

@texasrunnerDFW Well, if you’d just zoom out a bit you’d notice these current rates are really quite normal. In fact, they’re lower than the rates we had for most the 90’s.

@realDonaldTrump Wait, so mortgage interest wouldn’t be deductible, but car loan interest would be? That seems backwards.

I think people underestimate how crazy the money glitch is with YouTube automation it's not when you write scripts, shoot perfect videos or spend hundreds on editing it's when you auto-upload 6,000+ SAME videos on one YT channel. and they are all monetized and making money while youtube gurus host 1-2 hours masterminds to discuss: "which hand should be raised on thumbnails, left or right, to increase CTR by 0.000001%." OGs use shortcuts to make real money people hate traditional education, and even in the online space, it's getting mediocre gurus taught 100s or 1000s of people with their ordinary system and knowledge YouTube is not physics or a medical job where you need to follow the rules to get the job done you can break every freaking rule and make 10x bye

For a little while, sure, but if you get too big, or too successful with any of these channels, the whip starts cracking. Part of the game with these small “money grab” scheme channels seems to be the ability to blow up *just enough* to make 5-10k a month for a year or so before they implode. Worst part of working with this content is that it doesn’t normally have staying power. But it can be repeated countless times with countless niches, which does make it a formidable business strategy at scale.

There is a study out there where 100's of rich people with a net worth from $1M to $100M were asked, "How much money is enough?" The majority answered the same way: double whatever they currently had

@DearS_o_n 1. Prioritize finding your partner when you’re young. It gets a lot harder after 30, and having a great woman by your side will make your goals infinitely easier. 2. Be INTENSELY curious about everything ; the way things work, the way they don’t. Learn lots, ask many questions.

But you understand WHY those revisions are made? The way they collect this data from companies makes the estimate dependent on those companies’ response rate, over which they don’t have all that much control. As more reports roll in over the couple of months following, the number is revised accordingly.

I see 3 possibilities 1. US economy is doing well, and I will have been total wrong about this cycle being the same. 2. Economy is weakening but still hanging on. 3. 4 weeks before election and Biden administration has control of the data. What’s your base case?

If your strict point had been that Rubio’s insinuation that the numbers were cooked to help Kamala was wrong because of the BLS’s data collection/business survey methods being prohibitive of that sort of manipulation, that’s one thing, but you chose to make a much broader point here; that the mere insinuation that a government agency would play politics with government data is fundamentally anti-conservative, conspiratorial nonsense. That a lack of trust in institutions, itself, is anti-conservative. Really, that’s only true if you apply a narrow lens of Bush-era neoconservatism, and they were perhaps the most dishonest and destructive occupiers of said institutions out of any political group to enjoy power in your lifetime. The loss of trust in institutions isn’t some phenomenon that came out of nowhere. It was built by decades of observed corruption, dishonesty and incompetence. If you’re under 50, your young adult life or childhood was characterized by 3 such monumental failures/deceptions: first during the Iraq war, again during the Great Recession, and another time during COVID. Can you blame those folks for being highly skeptical? Or misled in that skepticism, at times?

@NorCalHousing It wasn't wrong because of a conspiracy to make the numbers look good. There is a whole system in place here that people who care to know about the BLS understand. There's a HUGE difference between what Rubio is doing here and "blind trust".

This is the opposite of conservatism. Conservatism is respect for our long-held institutions and the mutual trust that is a necessary binding agent for civilization. The Republican party today couldn't see conservatism from where it's standing.
Marco Rubio@marcorubio

Another fake jobs report out from Biden-Harris government today 16 of the last 17 reports have been significantly revised downwards after media helps them with their fake headlines But all the fake numbers in the world aren’t going to fool people dealing with the Biden-Harris economic disaster every day

@KAErdmann Ultimately, that’s what you’re suggesting, whether you admit it or not: Marco Rubio is being anti-conservative by daring to question the honesty/accuracy of government data. Even though that data HAS been wrong on 16 of the last 17 occasions. I don’t like Rubio, but… c’mon 🤨
