My first football cards were of McElhenny, Owens, Tittle, Perry, St. Clair, and Nomellini. That should tell you the team I'm a fan of.

@PitchPaddocks That makes sense. I replied re quietly because there has been a fair amount of noise, especially last year, about the two of them as rivals for the championship. I totally agree with your main point.

McLaren quietly has one of the strongest driver line-ups on the grid right now. Oscar Piastri on 60 points, Lando Norris on 58, team sitting third in constructors with 118 points. Both delivering solid results week after week. But here’s the long-term valuable reality: if they want multiple titles, one of them will likely need to accept the support role when championships are on the line. History with equal duos always ends with clear hierarchy once the pressure hits. Teams talk “no orders” until it actually matters. Both drivers are proper class and deserve wins, but McLaren’s management will face tough calls. Still one of the most fun teams to watch every Sunday. 🧡🧡 #F1 #McLaren

Yeah, I get it. Ferrari's Luce is an ugly car. Especially if you're supposed to spend half a million on this. But in the wake of the design discussion, I stumbled across Ferrari's website and had a look at the other models. They aren't much better, lookswise. So if I would be able to spend several 100k€ on a car, Ferrari wouldn't see a dime from me. But in general, I would have a hard time spending that money. Tesla looks boring. And regarding the interior, here, the Luce has an edge for me. The inside looks quite nice and they combined screen and haptic switches. This all-screen-bullshit doesn't belong in the car where I'm still supposed to drive. The moment, I'm passenger, screen is fine. Exteriorwise, Porsche Taycan Turismo, Porsche Panamera or Audi A6 Avant might be leading here when considering off-the-shelf products. If money wouldn't be a problem at all, a Packard Eight might get some aerodynamic adjustements, longer cabine and a platform that can keep up with modern sportscars and Unimogs - and a old VW Käfer with a modern platform...

Since 2004, I've purchased/driven a wide range of cars in China. The first "thing" (barely a car) was a Suzuki Wagon built in China that cost $7k USD. The most recent was the HiPhi-X that cost well over $100k USD. In between there was a Benz built in Beijing, a BYD Tang DM, and I recently bought my wife a Nio ET5t. I say this to impress upon the reader that I've spent a lot of time looking at, driving, and owning various China-made vehicles. Some that are local brands. Some that are foreign brands built in China. Those early cars were crap. You'd get high from the paint/glue fumes at least a month after you took delivery. Things rattled. Performance was underwhelming. And specs were years behind the latest models outside China. But you took what you could get. The years passed. The first time I said, "Oh, this is different." Was the 2018 BYD Tang. The designers were former Audi. The tech was a solid combo of new Chinese stuff (batteries, electronics) plus solid German stuff (motors, etc). And I understood that that moment that if Chinese car companies kept going in that direction, they would eventually beat the world. Well, I'm here to say, they've beat the world. It's been a week since I took delivery of our 2026 Zeekr 9x Hyper. And in that week I've come to fully appreciate that this is A) The nicest car I've ever owned and B) This is the nicest car I've ever been in. (Back when I lived in the US, I owned and rode around in some *nice* cars). Like, this is a *Super Nice Car*. It's a 3 ton 6-seater that glides like a feather, goes 0-100kmh in 3 seconds, has a 1200 watt sound system that sounds like heaven (Naim), sports a fully integrated (and very smart) GPT AI, goes 300+km on battery and another 1000+km on petrol, and massages your butt while doing it. Having been in or owned various Jags, Range Rovers, BMWs, etc - the interior appointment in this car matches or beats them all. 10/10. No complaints. Yeah, so, Australians and (I think?) Canadians are going to get these soon. Man, they are going to have FUN. If anything like this ever comes to the US... Americans will have FUN. But the American auto industry (including - especially including?) Tesla - will die. Fully specced, the 9x is around 85k USD but lower specs go for less. They also have a smaller 5-seater 8x with similar power and features for considerably less. More importantly, really high quality Chinese electrics (with self driving, etc) can be had starting at 18k USD. And those cars are equally great (for the class they are in). Anyway, good on China and Chinese industry for reaching this pinnacle. Very cool stuff! *Some very good videos on YouTube covering these cars. Check out @ChinaDriven - I like his style.

@americanmcgee @Masonch31178202 That's very impressive. I notice though that it's mildly deceptive re the 911 comparison, saying 911 Carrera, since Carrera models aren't close to the quickest 911s. Still, for an SUV . . . wow!

@americanmcgee Zeeker 009 is a big hit in HKG. Owners are buying this to replace their S class, Rolls and Alphards. Denza D9 also kicking ass. I bought that as it came out before the zeeker. No turning back. Never going to buy a combustion engine car again. Maybe a 911 just to tick that box.

@ThronesUpdates How about a sequel where Jon Snow comes to his senses and slays Bran, preventing him from being the worst king ever. The Jon breaks the fourth wall, looks directly at the final season's writers/producers and says "you should be ashamed for that ending."

Kit Harington talked about the ‘Jon Snow’ spin-off show at Motor City Comic-Con and said they “put it down for the moment” “We did, I mean, it's open knowledge that we tried to make a, a Jon Snow show for a little while. And just couldn't. My main thing is not wanting, not wanting to go there and sort of do an injustice by the character. As I've just said, I think he ended well. I think that he went where he was meant to. So if, if you pick him up again, it needs to be for the right reasons. But I did feel there was something left to say, and I did think the idea of exploring something kind of entirely around him or, or a lot around him would be interesting. 'Cause remember in Game of Thrones, you're part of like a huge ensemble, and it would be quite interesting to look at a character dive more focused on. And that's why I was intrigued, but we couldn't find the right thing, and so we put it down for the moment.” (via: Motor City Comi-Con)

BREAKING: Trump melts down in China after Xi Jinping insulted the United States — and Trump was too stupid to realize it in the moment. It looks like he got back to his hotel, someone explained it to him, and he promptly threw his phone against the wall... "When President Xi very elegantly referred to the United States as perhaps being a declining nation, he was referring to the tremendous damage we suffered during the four years of Sleepy Joe Biden and the Biden Administration, and on that score, he was 100% correct," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Our Country suffered immeasurably with open borders, high taxes, transgender for everybody, men in women’s sports, DEI, horrible trade deals, rampant crime, and so much more!" According to all available evidence, Xi did not actually refer to the United States as a "declining nation" during his face-to-face meeting with Trump. Rather, Xi said that the United States and China should strive to avoid falling into the “Thucydides Trap." The Thucydides Trap is a geopolitical concept coined by political scientist Graham Allison that refers to the historical truism that a declining hegemonic power often comes into violent conflict with a rising power. It takes its name from the Greek historian Thucydides, whose historical account of the Peloponnesian War recounts how Athens and Sparta came to military blows because the latter feared the former's ascendancy. In this analysis, the United States represents Sparta and China represents Athens. So while Xi was perhaps not technically insulting America, he was implying that we are a waning empire. And looking at the demented sex offender leading us, who could argue otherwise? "President Xi was not referring to the incredible rise that the United States has displayed to the world during the 16 spectacular months of the Trump Administration, which includes all-time high stock markets and 401K’s, military victory and thriving relationship in Venezuela, the military decimation of Iran (to be continued!) — Strongest military on earth by far, economic powerhouse again, with a record 18 trillion dollars being invested into the United States by others, best U.S. job market in history, with more people working in the United States right now than ever before, ending country destroying DEI, and so many other things that it would be impossible to readily list," Trump continued. "In fact, President Xi congratulated me on so many tremendous successes in such a short period of time." "Two years ago, we were, in fact, a Nation in decline. On that, I fully agree with President Xi! But now, the United States is the hottest Nation anywhere in the world, and hopefully our relationship with China will be stronger and better than ever before!" he concluded. Obviously, Xi was not referring to the Biden administration. He wasn't referring to a specific administration at all. He was referring to a broader, century-defining trend but of course Trump is too petty, small-minded, and ignorant to contextualize events within a larger historical scope. He is an id-driven animal who is fixated on immediate gratification and ego. The Chinese are strategizing the best ways to shape their relationship with the United States to benefit their people and position them as the world's dominant superpower. Trump is sitting cooped up in his hotel raging about a partisan political rival. What's more, if Xi were to compare Trump and Biden, he would invariably have to conclude that the latter was a far stronger leader. Trump has devastated and hobbled America by slashing our scientific and medical research, crushing the work class, undermining our military alliances with Europe, and starting a war with Iran that — despite what he wants us to believe — he's losing. Above all else, Trump is a gift to America's adversaries. To put this in even simpler terms, China is building high-speed rails and glittering cities of neon and glass. The United States is wasting $1 billion on a ballroom for pedophiles to gather inside. We deserve better. Please ❤️ and share if you miss Obama and Biden!

In response to the rabid campaign Warren Sharp is currently running to prove John Lynch and the 49ers are draft-incompetent, I did a little quick research—not at all scientifically or mathematically vetted just yet, but numbers run on the actual number of drafted/UDFA players rostered for multiple seasons vs. the number of players acquired through trade or free agency. In other words: How many players on the 53 man roster for MULTIPLE seasons (the TRUE measure of contribution, because it takes into account valuable depth, not just 1-2 year starters) are there for each team? The time frame is nine years (from 2017-2025), the length of the Lynch/Shanahan era. At the top of the list: The Ravens, Bucs, and Rams—all in the 65-75 percentile. Excellent homegrown talent. At the bottom: Cards, Commanders, and Panthers—all in the 30-40 percentile. Always buyers, never developers. The 49ers come in mid pack, right at 16, with a roster comprised of FIFTY PERCENT drafted/UDFA talent. It’s not elite, but it’s clearly competent. Here’s their grouping: 13. DEN Broncos — 52.4% 14. SEA Seahawks—52.2% 15. L.A. Chargers — 50.8% 16. SF 49ers — 50.2% 17. LV Raiders — 48.5% 18. PHI Eagles — 47.8% Just two spots above are the World Champion Seahawks. Two spots BELOW are the Eagles (largely applauded as having the “best” GM in football, Howie Roseman). Interesting… Football analysis requires perspective, context, and proper data fed into the inquiry. What Sharp is spreading is mostly high-humidity horse manure intended to embrace a trending wave of faux-outrage over a condition that doesn’t actually exist. For clicks? Who knows. But this isn’t good analysis, because it isn’t based on objective data, it’s based on subjective ideas and opinions. Garbage in—garbage out. Trust the objective facts; don’t invest your belief in this TMZ-style coverage. #TruthOverFertilizer
Coach Yac 🗣@Coach_Yac

Warren Sharp on John Lynch’s drafting over the years: “I know some 49ers fans are going to say they win a lot of games, so he must be drafting well. No. They win in spite of Lynch. Their 3 biggest on field contributors to wins the last several years have been Trent Williams, Christian McCaffrey and Brock Purdy. He got Trent because Dan Snyder pissed him off. CMC was a trade and Purdy was Mr Irrelevant, but after the draft, Lynch gave the credit to the Purdy pick to Brian Griese and scout Steve Slowik. Those 3 players combined with the coaching of Kyle Shanahan are leading the 49ers to wins. In fact, I would turn this argument on its head and say the 49ers have been close to winning, but still haven’t won a Super Bowl because they have drafted so poorly.” My biggest takeaway from the video other than Sharp destroying Lynch is that Kyle Shanahan doesn’t get any of the blame for several poor drafts and decisions — the trade up to get Lance — since 2021 🎥: @SharpFootball

“Probability does not exist.” This bold statement was made by Bruno de Finetti, and at first it sounds completely wrong. After all, we use probability all the time—weather forecasts, games, and even daily decisions. So what did he really mean? De Finetti wasn’t saying that uncertainty isn’t real. Instead, he was challenging the idea that probability is something built into the world, like weight or temperature. According to him, probability lives in our minds, not in nature. Think about a weather forecast that says there is a 50% chance of rain. That number is not floating in the clouds. It comes from a meteorologist who studies data—like wind patterns, humidity, and past weather—and then makes an informed judgment. Another expert, using slightly different data or methods, might give a different percentage. So, probability is really a way of expressing how confident someone is about an uncertain event, based on what they know. So, probability is not a fixed truth—it’s a personal estimate. It helps us make decisions when we don’t have complete information. De Finetti’s idea explains that uncertainty is part of life, and probability is just a tool we use to deal with it more wisely.
