I know it is Friday and my Brian isn't working optimally, but I just read a paper in which the authors referred to a length as 10^(-0.5) m and my brain cannot compute this. Why, just why would anyone refer to a length like this!!
For interest, this equates to 0.316m.

@Schreiberland I've been to Love Land as part of a Nuclear Graphite conference on the island. I was on top of a 50m concrete penis for a photo when a 5 year old climbed up to see what was up there - one of the weirdest days of my life!

@OverShape @garybrannan No it really wouldn't. I suspect you are confusing the use of a Molten Salt Reactor with a thorium fuel cycle (the two are often presented together). They're absolutely separate things, and the MSR concept is decades away in practice.

@William75537543 @garybrannan No reactors produce weapons grade plutonium, certainly not commercial ones. Some Pu is made in any reactor (it's the result of a near-miss fission event essentially) but needs to be stripped out of the fuel to be used in any kind of weapon!

@garybrannan While you're at it, can we also switch to modern nuclear reactors for nuclear power stations that don't produce weapons-grade plutonium and also don't produce much waste?

At last I have this little neat monitor calibrated. Will do some field tests during two client site visits this week. GM compensated. Up to 100 mSv/h. Good for 40 KeV and above. #radiation
