In 2027, will Nigerians choose Peter Obi – not as a messiah, but as a man whose public record speaks to restraint, accountability, and an almost unfashionable belief that public office is a place for service, not spectacle? guardian.ng/opinion/easter…

Three days ago, President Bola Tinubu assured the mourning victims of the Angwan Rukuba attack that he had dragged to the Yakubu Gowon Airport that "this (Angwan Rukuba community and many previous other attacks) will not repeat itself." But barely 24 hours after, the scenario repeated itself when three persons were killed in a fresh attack in Nyamgo Gyel, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, underscoring how hollow President Tinubu’s words are. Another attack on Kwapel village in Chibok last night. As usual, they went straight to burn the churches and food stores. More details soon. @officialABAT I'm not sure you heard or been informed on any of the numerous attacks on our people in Chibok. The @OfficialDSSNG @HQNigerianArmy @DHQNigeria have been acting as if we don't exist. In a few days now they will begin to remember the remaining 78 missing Chibok girls because it will be 12 years. Allah ya isa mana.

STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE PRESIDENT TINUBU APPROVES N3.3 TRILLION PAYMENT PLAN TO RESTORE RELIABLE ELECTRICITY President Bola Tinubu has approved the payment plan to finally settle the outstanding debts under the Presidential Power Sector Financial Reforms Programme. The debt repayment plan followed the final review of the legacy debts that have beset the power sector for more than a decade. The long-standing debts accumulated between February 2015 and March 2025. Following verification, ₦3.3 trillion has been agreed as a full and final settlement, ensuring a fair and transparent resolution. Implementation has begun, with 15 power plants signing settlement agreements totalling ₦2.3 trillion. The Federal Government has already raised ₦501 billion to fund these payments. Out of the amount, N223 billion has been disbursed, with further payments underway. What this means for Nigerians: With payments reaching the power value chain, generation will be more stable. With power plants supported, electricity reliability will improve. And as the sector stabilises, more investment, more jobs, and better service will follow. “This programme is not just about settling legacy debts. It is about restoring confidence across the power sector — ensuring gas suppliers are paid, power plants can keep running, and the system begins to work more reliably," explained Olu Arowolo-Verheijen, Special Adviser on Energy to President Tinubu. “It is part of a broader set of reforms already underway — including better metering and service-based tariffs that link what you pay to the quality of electricity you receive. “The government is also prioritising power supply to businesses, industries, and small enterprises — because reliable electricity is critical to creating jobs, supporting livelihoods, and growing the economy. “The goal is simple: more reliable power for homes, stronger support for businesses, and a system that works better for all Nigerians," she added. President Tinubu has commended all stakeholders who supported efforts to resolve the legacy issues in the power sector. He has also confirmed that the next phase (Series II) will begin this quarter. The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors should not have to beg for what has already been agreed upon. The Federal Government signed a deal on the Professional Allowance Table, and now it wants to abandon it. This is not governance; it is betrayal. Our resident doctors are the last line of defence in hospitals that are already collapsing. They work gruelling hours, in impossible conditions, for pay that insults their sacrifice. And now, the government seeks to take away the little that was promised? The Tinubu administration must demonstrate commitment to the issues: 19 months of unpaid Professional Allowance arrears; promotion arrears gathering dust; a Medical Residency Training Fund stuck in bureaucratic limbo; and a government that treats its doctors as an afterthought and remains unconcerned as they flee the country in droves. Every doctor Nigeria loses to the UK, Canada, or Saudi Arabia is a failure of leadership, not a failure of patriotism. You cannot ask people to serve a nation that refuses to honour its own word. I stand with NARD. Pay what you owe. Honour what you signed. Or explain to 200 million Nigerians why their hospitals will go dark on Tuesday. -AA

CHIDI ANSELM ODINKALU: "Since the onset of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in May 2023, the playbook has become a familiar script, turning Nigerian judges into what has been described as “authors of confusion”. It usually begins with an orchestrated internal leadership dispute in an opposition political party. Then “one faction goes to court, the court issues a vague interim order dressed in Latin, total confusion erupts, INEC is paralysed, and the opposition party is crippled.” It’s the ruse of law." thecable.ng/amupitan-and-t…

@mrfestusogun It's only indicative of the source of the manufactured crisis in ADC and other opposition parties like PDP and formerly the Labour Party. These are the so-called former fighters for democracy.

Is it not incredible that Nigeria’s spokesperson is the chief defender of Nafiu Gombe?
Bayo Onanuga, OON, CON@aonanuga1956

@BolajiADC Hi Bolaji, the man your bosses stole the ADC from is ahead of you. Nafiu Gombe has already gone global to report the hijacking of his party by those he calls "external political actors" and "power mongers". Read his letter to the US Embassy in Nigeria.

At last, A Man With Balls. They wouldn't dare. They are just opportunistic cave men trying to force Tinubu to run in an election he doesn't want to run in so they can remain relevant. Whatever you do today, spare a thought for all those in captivity especially Pres. Tinubu who is also being held hostage by a gang who cannot spell Democracy. God bless Nigeria. Funsho Williams did not abandon his ambition to become governor after Pa Adesanya appealed to him to step down for Tinubu in December 1998. With Obasanjo as president, Funsho decamped to the PDP. At that point, he became a greater political danger to the Lagos establishment. Meanwhile, Tinubu had already clashed with his deputy, Mrs. Kofo Akerele-Bucknor, a strong force in the AD, and had pushed the House to impeach her. This political misstep angered indigenous Lagosians, who saw Princess Bucknor as a representative of their enlightened interests. The grand scheme was to ensure that no Tinubu protégé would come near Lagos House again, and Funsho Williams was prepared to take up the mantle in 2007. The forces had gathered to sweep Tinubu’s looming influence from Lagos politics, but suddenly, Funsho Williams was murd@d in his Ikoyi residence.
Ọnụselụọgụ@madonnite

Many people do not know that Bola Tinubu did not actually win the 1998 AD gubernatorial primaries in Lagos. The primary election was won by Funsho Williams. Following the intervention of Chief Ayo Adebanjo and Chief Abraham Adesanya, who reviewed the results in Tinubu’s favour and resolved disputes arising from Ikorodu and Lagos Mainland, Funsho Williams stepped down for Tinubu.

Aremu Olusegun Obasanjo and Akanbi @officialABAT!!! The Yoruba spirit is no accident of history. It is legacy ancient, enduring, unbroken. This is why we are different. This is why our essence feels almost otherworldly timeless, resilient, unforgettable. This is why our culture stands intact, unyielding, preserved across generations. I pity the legal profession in Nigeria. It is now dead. For Amupitan to read Law, become a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a Professor of Law, then accept an INEC job to work for unpatriotic people is sickening. That position he took against the ADC and the pathetic interview..1/

Today when you challenge them on their conviction they say you are a bad journalist! Same Segun Sowunmi asked that my colleague be put on leash because she asked him a question! Mind you, I know he will come around and say Rufai is good when I say things that favour his interest I am constant as the northern star All these people change according to interests!
