Ron Harwell to @PaperCityMag on his son Isiah Harwell leaving Kelvin Sampson's Houston program to enter the transfer portal: "There was no reason that he left there other than than he felt that he could do more. He could offer a program more than what he was given. . . "We were sad that we have to make the move. But we're looking out for the best interests of our son. And he needs development. He needs some offensive development. And that's what we're going to be seeking mostly from the next opportunity." Ron Harwell praised UH director of sports performance Alan Bishop for his work with Isiah: "That weight coach there really did a great job with him." He also tells PaperCity that he's grateful for the care Kelvin Sampson and the rest of the Houston coaching staff showed Isiah coming off his cleanup summer knee surgery, noting that a different coaching staff may have tried to rush him back and got him re-injured. Ron Harwell notes Isiah is in the best health he possibly could be in after this season in Sampson's Houston program. Ron Harwell says Isiah is not driven to return to the West and is open to programs anywhere in the country, including on the East Coast.
